So anything electronics goes here, not sure you'll get the answer your looking for but might be interesting talking about it.

So yeah, I've been out the game since the P4. That shitt was fun. The only thing that would really deter me from the FTA is not so much understanding how to set it up but pointing the damn LNB at the right spot to get everything you want.

Any new updates regarding the P4,its been years since they DTV cracked down and apparently they did a good job. I know I have a couple of virgin P4 cards laying around just dont know where.

schitt, i didn't even know about this thread, K....
even though i'm on a damn computer at my job, i still don't know the basics. i can't stand computer lingo and memory schitt and all that jazz.
i just wanna log on and sit back, do my thing. fucq that.

but i'm definitely down for the electronics part.

i'm in the midst of looking for a plasma in the next few months for the world cup, nba playoffs, baseball season, salsa concert DVDs, etc....

any advice would be appreciated.

Damn, where did this thread come from?! Alright you asked for it (here goes the extra little time I had left outside BS)....

I'm going to start by posting my current computers:

1) Dell Desktop Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 80 GIG HD, ATI 9800 128 MB, DVD-RW, WinXP. (my main gaming and video editing rig).
2) Sony Desktop Pentium 4 1.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, ATI 9800 128 MB, 60 GB HD, DVD-RW, WinXP. (for people that wanna touch my $hit)
3) Server Dual (Processor) AMD 1600+ MP 1.6 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 64 MB Video Card, 80 Gig HD, CentOS 4.2 Linux (Web and file server built by me).
4) HP Pavilion zt3000 laptop, Centrino 1.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HD, WiFi, ATI 9200 64 MB, Suse 10 Linux. (Laptop for Linux experimentation).
5) Dell 700m laptop, Centrino 1.6 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD, WiFi, WinXp. (My main laptop for work and everything else).

OK I admit it.. I have a problem.

Well I gots a plasma, wife hates it. She thinks it waste electricity like crazy(it does :D). But plasma has the best picture quality for HD in my honest opinion. Alot of companies are moving towards LCD, I dont like them for HD or regular tv. Regular tv looks real bad on LCD and LCDs are so delicate(the screen eww). OH that leads me to the next thing. I have an Panny EDTV, not an HDTV. EDTV has less lines of resolution, but so many reviews of EDTV looking as good as HDTV I had to look for myself and it did. I see no difference, and a plus about EDTV is it looks better when it comes to normal channels. If I was you I would looke for an EDTV plasma. They are a little cheaper and they look better for regular SD channels. I think they still have some around, even like BJ's or CostCo. But as far as plasmas go Sony, Panny and everthing else after that as far as I'm concerned. Dont get LCD, you'll hate how regular channels look. But once you go HD you wont go back, thats for sure.

No but seriously Im planning on building my next computer, just haven't decided which processor to go with. Its either between a
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ or a Intel Pentium 4 640 / 3.20GHz. Once I decide Ill get the corresponding motherboard and so on. By the way anyone into PC games like Half Life 2 or Counter Strike.

Depends what you're going to use this rig for? If its for gaming i'd probably recommend Intel. But if its for use of applications and development i'd go with AMD.

I haven't played any of those games in years. The only first person shooters i'm into are war games like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty.
