Hernan Gomez is the new DT of the guatemala Men's senior team!!

he has quailfied two teams to the World cup and has coached colombia in france 98 and took ecuador to thier 1st ever WC appearance and coached them in japan/ korea 2002

he is 2 for 2 in qualifying teams to the WC i guess he's got lots of work to do with guatemala.

ah what ever he is a more proven DT than mariadiaga will ever be and is

to get a coach that colombia was after last year , thats not bad considering the last time colombia went to the WC was under el bolillo and they needed his guidence for 2010. so thats even better for guate!!!

i hope he is comfortable in guatemala, and that no one's kidnaps him for money and he guide's guatemala to a well deserved world cup appearance
in 2010

Big up to Guatefc and all other guatemalans on the board. I think with a good coach and a good squad things can definitely happen for your NT. Good luck in the future. I will be looking forward to seeing you guys there again. One things for sure...those Canadians wont!:D

Big ups to you Warlord. Your a class act, we need more posters like you around. I like how you don't try to demean other people and their country. Good luck to the Soca Warriors this summer. Make your CONCACAF brothers proud :D

Big ups to you Anthony, you're good cat also. For tha record, I aint perfect bro..... I've had my days in recent past where I got yellow cards cuz I constantly dissed a certain Mexican poster on these boards.

Then I went to the European boards and ripped a Moderator there and got red carded for like a month and half....so I can understand how you feel. I'm tolerant and respectful to peeps who are the same to me.

BTW, good job by your FA in hiring someone who has international experience cuz that augurs well for your national team in the future. It may cost some coin, but believe me it makes a hell of a difference. Just take a look at what Beenhakker did with a team he acquired 3 games into the hex. We got killed by you 5-1 in Guatemala City under the worst coach in the history of Trinidad and Tobago football.

I know you guys hate Maradiaga, but St Claire makes Maradiaga look like Jose Mourinho:D

Hey Maradiaga took u guys farther than anyone before... he almost made you guys taste the world cup, but i guess Guate lacked experience and bad timing in injuries.

Hernan is the better coach and he's coached two WC teams has more coachin expierence from a longer qualifying schedule the conmebol
knows how to adjust around injuries suspension and etc

he is a better coach and will do better than ramon" choker" Maradiaga

he choked twice to T&T .he gets close to take a team to the WC and they lose out in the last game .

Hello fellow chapines and everyone else! Obviously I'm a new guy here. As far as the DT, El Primitivo did a great job. That's as close as Guatemala has gotten to the World Cup. He really wasn't the problem, it was the goalkeeper. Our keepers are garbage. I think that's the first thing Gomez has to look at. He needs to find a keeper that we now give up those horrible goals that Klee and the other gave up. Even Jerez who played against the US yesterday looked awful. As far as the Gomez hire, I thought it was great! Hopefully this will be the biginning of us quaifying to our first WC!!!

Bienvenido mayanwarrior, about the new coach, this is not official yet, I think the lared made this whole thing up about the new coach , they're a bunch of liars, la Fedefut hasnt chosen a new head coach yet, but el Bolillo is the #1 candidate. ;)
