The C Firm, Class IV, et. al. need to get travelling, too.

Based on this, I've come up with a few dates for us to do a little invading of our own.

4/2 @ H-Town: Season opener?
5/27 @ FSL: First game for the RMC, and on ESPN2 also.
6/24 @ FCD: THIS IS A MUST TRAVEL! I have a plate of Barbecue from one of my former Inferno comrades that I can't bring a Dozen Rocky Mountain Oysters to Big D. I'm not gonna get punked on this one. Help me out, please.
8/5 @ FCD: Or this, too.
9/2 @ FSL: Last game of the RMC.
9/9 @ KC: Close enough, and they'll be lousy this year.

Thoughts?

Certainly both FSL Rocky Mountain Cup games!!!

Houston is a 16 hour drive ... not sure if that's good candidate.

Personally, I think we should do both RMC games - and see how it goes - and hopefully build on the experience and get more people on board.

My kids and I (and my ex, Paige, and her family, Tel and Rhiannon) are all planning to go to the May RSL game; but we're gonna cheat and fly (Southwest has pretty good deals). Still, if you're organizing where to sit, we're in!

Also, the RFO stated in the Rocky Mountain Cup thread that they were trying to organize a charter bus to the away RSL games... I wonder if they'll do that for the home opener too?

I'd definately like to go to the home opener as well, but I don't think I can afford flights for the kids and I... so I either have to hope for a charter bus or drive myself.

Are you going alone? Are you looking for a carpool or a car-train?

Dunno - we'll see what the Rapids put together ... and maybe C10 has some secret plans as well? :)

I Will absol-damn-lootley be going to the FSL games and at least one FCD game but car (my 41 MPG Honda Civic) with a woman and 1-2 kids in tow.

How far of a drive is Salt Lake anyway? 8-10 hrs.?

Exactly. Depends on how fast you drive and if you take 70/15 or 25/80.

C10 will be working with both FO's on coordinating away game trips for all 4 RMC games. We have no idea at this point what exactly it will entail, but at the very least I feel confident that RSL will be willing to give us a similar ticket deal as they did last year (Group rate regardless of how many actually come).

In my limited poking around looking for flights...

DEN to DFW is non-stop, and ~$300/head
DEN to HOU (Hobby) is a one-stop (DFW, ATL or KC), and ~$325/head
(Southwest has no direct flights from Denver to Texas - perhaps a change at Midway (DEN to CHI to HOU?)

Gas for the limo (Lincoln) ~6 tanks R/T (~$250), but a 15-16 hour drive.
DEN to Amarillo - leg 1 going out; HOU to Raton - leg 1 coming back...

I'm still hoping to make the season opener, just not sure how.

Look up the Wright Amendment for the reason that there are no direct flights from Denver to Dallas. Essentially by law Southwest is only allowed to fly from Love Field in Dallas to neighboring states (NM, OK, AR, LA) plus Alabama and Mississippi. They aren't even allowed to sell you a ticket that allows you to change planes in one of those states to get to Dallas. When I looked into flying Phoenix-Dallas on SW for MLS Cup I would have had to buy 1 RT ticket between Phoenix and Alb. and another between Alb. and Dallas. I ended up flying American.

No idea why there isn't one to Houston though.

I was kinda hoping to see the Rapids on the road when we play in the US OPen Cup. I don't know who we will be up against but I think that would be a cool event to be at.

Also I am confirmed for the last game of the RMC in September.

Right now the Rapids and C-Firm are working on getting a bus together for the RSL games. Putting a package together that includes bus fare, tix and maybe a rockymountain Cup scarf. Figures are still in the works but its looking like $60 for the whole shabang.

60 bucks? Damn, that would be cheap.

$60?! That would totally be affordable, even on my saving-for-World-Cup budget.

Here's an interesting idea for the KC game on Sept. 9---a Rapids fans vs. KC fans kickaround (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7497084&postcount=242). Anybody else think this sounds like fun? (mojo10, you readin' this?)

Have you guys talked about anything similar for the Houston opener? Or are we just hoping for a Southwest Airlines miracle?

As much as we would love to have something for the Houston game, we dont have anything in the cards. Most of our effort is on the viewing party and getting something together for the RSL games. Sorry....
