Where does he play? Left right center?

Reports say a right footed center half at 19 years old and has been capped for Argentina.

Looks as if we're preparing for Sami's eventual retirement.

I hope the search for one or two goal-getters is proceeding apace, too.

Put this one in the "outright lies" category, but, for what it's worth:

I don't have a link, but last week the rumors section of F365 and the Guardian both noted that Real Madrid would be in for Alonso this summer.

That didn't really surprise as Alonso's Spanish (info none you knew, I'm sure ;) ) and Madrid are inevitably linked with almost every half-decent footballer.

But I did find it interesting that the anticipated bid was supposed to be about 11M pounds. Isn't that what we paid for him? First, I can't imagine us letting him go and second, if we were to let him go, surely it would be for more than what we paid for him.

Yea Madrid wants everyone, that ain't news.

On the other hand, anyone know anything else about this guy? I'm not too hot on him just yet.

One rumor that I saw a couple of times is that we will swap Cisse for Defoe. Just a rumor...

Well it seems like the young argentine is on his way this weekend. I don't really know much about him but if anyone else does let me know. All i know is he is a defender and is in the argentinian under 20's team.

He wouldn't be the first Argentinian defender to have his rumored ties with us come to nothing...

that said bring him on if he has the quality.

He's part Basque and played for a Basque club... I'd be shocked if he went to Madrid.

I doubt we'd get this Argentine.. just bought young Kromkamp for the position.

As much as I'd hate it Cisse for Defoe is possible IMO.

Why in the world would Tottenham get rid of Defoe? If anything they'll let Keane go first as was almost a done deal during the summer. Plus, Rassiek is done. The only striker staying with them for sure is Mido.

Cisse for defoe would be a step in the right direction for our much maligned strike force. I also read on the january window thread morientes would be sold this summer and we swoop for owen again

take it for what its worth.

Even among the most absurd lies this one seems a little out there considering we just bought two defenders...

Actually, the early sentiment was that Keane was set for the chopping block, but Jol actually prefers starting KEane with Mido now, and is said to not be as impressed with Defoe as the rest of England seems to be.

Well count me among the impressed. I'd take that swap in a heartbeat.

Hell, i'd honestly swap Cisse for Keane at this point.

Subject to a medical, we've clinched (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N151430060214-1108.htm) Paletta's signature.

I don't understand how this guy gets a work permit. Does he have a European passport?

I don't understand how this guy gets a work permit. Does he have a European passport? No, He's played the required number of matches for a FIFA top-70 nation (or whatever it is). Gonzalez's misfortune was that Chile was not in the top so and so. Although, having watched the recent Africa Cup of Nations, I think there's a quality problem in the FIFA rankings.

My question with Paletta is when he will arrive at the club.

If he's getting a medical and has been signed, does that mean he can be included in the squad starting immediately? Or does he have to wait until summer since it wasn't finalized in the January transfer window?
