"The Office", probably the funniest offering the BBC's had in years, is now being shown on BBC America Thursday Nights at 10:20pm EST.
If you've not heard about it, it's a "mockumentary" about the workings of a company that sells paper, focusing mostly on the branch manager, a misguided fellow who thinks he's the greatest boss in the world, but in reality his employees have nothing but contempt for him. It's incredibly dry humor, but very sharp, very clever, and probably too smart for general American audiences. The show is so good that I have two seperate friends who actually bought all-region DVD players, so they could watch the UK DVD's before they found out the show would be aired here after all.
I literally cried from laughter at last week's debut episode.

Yeah, saw it. That Gareth has some of the sickest looking eyes I've seen.
I've been watching a lot of BBC America lately and it's starting to worry me....Coupling, Waking The Dead, Changing Rooms, Ground Force and even Bargain Hunt.
I'll get back to you and let you know what happens.

I'm still a little angry at BBC America for dropping "the soccer show". My access to EPL matches varies from nil to minimal so I loved even the little slices I got from their show especially the hour long review of the last week. Everytime I turn BBC America on there is a boring interior design and home remodelling show on...

Yeah, it's sad that Coupling, The Office and reruns of AbFab and Monty Python are the only things worth watching on a channel that should be so much more.

Footix, "The Office" was hilarious. Thanks for the heads up. If only the shenanigans that take place in that fictional world entertained me everyday. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out what that skinny investigator was all about and I like the nonchalant attitude toward redundancies. Can't wait for next Thursday night.

Tim: "I want to hear more about Gareth's fantasy."
Episode: "Training"
A lot more chuckles from me last night than from the previous episode. Encore is on Sunday night.

My guess is the reason they dropped that is tied to the fact that the BBC lost the rights to broadcast the EPL highlight show to ITV in the last television contract.
As for "The Office," it is one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. I knew about it for a while, and was really glad when I heard it would be coming to BBCA. I hope the fact that they're starting to screen shows like "The Office" over here means that they'll start widening the selection of BBC shows they broadcast.
I've noticed, also, that BBCA has some Channel 4 shows that apparently they bought the rights to broadcast over here. Maybe that means we can look forward to "Phoenix Nights" sometime soon. I can only hope...

My first watching of the office was strange. I laughed a bit, but Brentmeister General was such a jackass I was watching the show with contempt, yet I wanted to watch more.
Then the next show was even better, and the last show had me falling down out of my chair. I can't wait till next Thursday.

I finally got around to watching the "Training" ep today, and Christ it's funny. The Gareth fantasy was totally classic.

Well that was over quick, I tune in last night and they're showing reruns already.
Hopefully we wont have to wait too long for the second season.
