It was only a matter of time :D

Currently i am in 2017/18, in a game i started back in December. I was with Spurs for 8 years, then moved to Barcelona and then to Inter 3 years after that.

I have been England manager, Italy manager and now Brazil manager. I only chose Brazil thinking i could learn Portuguese for my profile, but it doesn't work like that sadly.

My guy speaks English, Spanish and Italian now, he has 20 for all manager attributes except ambition where he has 1. The most he's been at since starting at 10 is 4. I don't know how to get the rating up!! I say good things and it goes down, i say good things and it goes up. It's like it's random or something.

With Spurs i find you don't really need to buy anybody, especially if you get a data update to deal with the transfers. The team pretty much picks itself. Defoe and Mido is probably the best striking combo.

....I cannot play Football Manager or any other football management simulation game as I find it too unrealistic.

When they get the training, the match generator, and the AI of the players, coaches, agents, fans, and board right, then let me know.

It's very obvious that the creators of it have never played the game. Ok, I know they have Ray Houghton on board on the consulting front, but he can't be doing much.

Hm, well i have to disagree with most of that.

I worked for them one summer and do know most of the guys quite well, and have played football both with and against them.

Computers have limitations and it has to be a series of pre-programmed responses. There are just some things you can't do, im afraid.

I also hate the AI of the players and the training, they keep trying to improve it but so far have failed i think. I dont like the 2d match thing either, the players do stupid things - and i think Ray Houghton was responsible for some of that. Like, they get a free kick on the edge of the box and play it back to the centre defender. Who does that?!

There are aspects i hate too, the stupid bids from teams for my players. Arsenal bid £1m plus Keown (who was retiring) for Jermain Defoe in ony of my games, err yeah great deal.

They have got the coaches and fans to be a bit better in 2006 but the board still isn't great and the media is too important - and wrong.

Yesterday, as Inter, i got a message about my game with Ascoli being a 'David vs Goliath' game. I am top and they are 6th. So it's not quite right. Not like i was playing some regional team in the cup or anything.

The board thing... they never retire! At Spurs in 2018 Daniel Levy is still there, he's 62. Malcolm Glazer is still in charge of Man Utd, he's in his 80s. And i can't click on them to see their attributes.

Been Spurs manager since 05/06 and am in 13/14 right now. Won the Prem 5 times, CL 4 times, Fa Cup once and for some unholy reason the League Cup 6 years in a row.

My game doesn't do silly things like passing back to the CB when I have a FK near the oppo's penalty area. Also I never have outrageous or unreasonable thansfer bids. I do D/L the latest patches though so that might have something to do with it.

Anyways. Nice to have the OT forum.

Thanks Mods, (specially Jaymes)

Who cares about the realism of it? Like any game, it has its own realities, and you have to learn the system to beat it. Unless you play against actual other people, there's never going to be reality. But its fun to play such games because they can be challenging.

And I like this one because you can play it different ways, and it gives you different circumstances and makes you exercise your mind a little bit.

Of course there are dead giveaways for a FM fan when you talk football. 1 is that he'll think Mauro Esposito is Itay's greatest player...ever. :)

Still, I've played a few different ways, and I find it entertaining. I don't have 2006 yet as I'm not bored with 2005 yet.

I was late on the FM bandwagon, i was a loyal Championship Manager player but the last one was unbelievably bad, then i found out the old makers of CM made FM so i decided to change.

I am in the game as a player, one of my friends is a researcher and he always puts me in. I am on a free though, with an ability of 50. :)

I quit my long game yesterday, it got too annoying. I quit Brazil after winning the world cup, took up the Dutch job. At the end of my 3rd season with Inter i wanted to be Spurs manager again and they kept rejecting me!!! I won 8 titles with them in 8 years and they won't have me back!

So i retired and deleted the game :) I had achieved all i wanted anyway, would have been nice to learn some more languages though. I also wish it would allow me to put my real date of birth in, instead it makes me 28.9.75 instead of 83. Annoying.

I'll start a new one tonight.

Inspired by this thread...I started a new Tottenham game a few days ago. Its too bad about always having to deal Carrick...but his salary is a killer. Anyway, having a lot of fun again building us into a cyber-powerhouse:) .

First season we came fourth and won the FA Cup. I just finished the second...what an eventful season.

We had this team:

----Riordan----Chamakh----Defoe
----Parker-------Davis------Jenas
Bridge-----Dawson---King----Pospech
---------------Robbo

First drew Barcelona in our Champs League qualifier, somehow won the tie. Drew Milan and Munich in the group, got through to knockouts. Won the League Cup over Newcastle 5-0. Dealt Robbie Keane to Arsenal for 20M, Kanoute to Man U for 27M (Euros). Lost in the FA Cup Semifinal to Liverpool.

The league was a heartbreaker. Had a 5 point lead over Arsenal with 4 rounds to play, and due to cup conflicts, Arsenal away became the last game of the season. Arsenal won out, and we drew away at Charlton and at home against United, beating Leeds. So 1 point lead going into the final game at Arsenal. They score two quick ones, but we get one back at the end of the half. On 77 minutes, Defoe equalizes. But in the 91st minute Esposito (he's too freaking good) knifes through our defense and beats Robinson for 3-2.

If anything like that ever ACTUALLY happened, I don't know if I could be consoled...except...

Two weeks later, after beating Benfica, Real Madrid, and Inter in the knockout rounds, we had Milan in the UCL final. Milan had beaten us twice in the group, and we came out very negative. It ended 0-0, and Calum Davenport of all people made the winning Penalty as the 7th shooter.

Hadn't played in a while. Forgot how fun/addictive it could be!

It's my real name.

Daniel Nash.

Lots of my details aren't there though, the date of birth, nationality and favoured/hated teams is right but my place of birth isn't put in.

I am PSV manager now, i was Saint-Etienne manager for 3 years.

There was a guy on the game called 'Dave Bus', and he was the subject of transfer speculation.

The headline was 'Bus on the move?'

Made me laugh this morning in my hungover state.

Hah, still on this game several weeks later.

I was PSV manager for 2 seasons, then Bayern Munich manager for 2 seasons and now Barcelona manager.

I speak English, French, Dutch and German. Learning Spanish.

Spurs won the league in 2011, but then finished 6th the next. They still have Martin Jol in charge and a lot of the players remain in 2012/13.

Robinson, King, Dawson, Jenas, Carrick, Lennon, Routledge, Defoe. Keane is on loan at Celtic and they have Stephen Makinwa as Defoe's partner.

Right, me again. As i have a lack of things to do i have been ploughing through this.

2 years as Barcelona manager, then 2 years at AC Milan. I now speak English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

I then took over as Spurs boss and re-took the England job. It's now 2016/17.

Martin Jol didn't get the stadium expanded, so when i took over it was the first thing i did. It's up to 52 something now.

Robinson, King, Kelly, Dawson, Jenas, Carrick, Defoe.. all still there. Lennon is at Inter, and i sold Routledge to Milan. I keep getting criticised for putting loads of Spurs players in the England team, 13 last time.

So i buy good English players, train them and give them England caps.. we win easily and i get slammed by the press?? riiiight.

I do still feel that the game would be much better with a proper view of a game.

I'm a Spurs manager in my game, and I always win a double but lose out barely on a treble.

Due to fixture overload, I pretty much tank the Carling Cup matches. My squad is so loaded that I could have the two best teams in the world from my first XI and second XI.

I painfully sold Paul Robinson as he is about 35 years-old. Fortunately, he's at Lyon instead of some other EPL team.
