Ok, I know it is a bit soon to start this, but assuming we finish well in the league and are able to secure some decent transfer funds in the kitty who would you like to see at Everton come next season?

How bout another Yank? Like Donovan or Beasley. What positions do you feel Everton are the weakest at?

Midfielders definately. Graveson is a great lad but the others are very much form players. Naysmith, Pembridge, Carsley, Linderoth, Watson, Gemmill and Li Tie - they wouldn't fill me of fear if I was playing against them. Many of them are playing well at the moment but they can often fade out of a game or simply have a loss of form.

I've always fancied Stilian Petrov who plays at Celtic. Joe Cole would be great, assuming West Ham are relegated. Basically anyone who can play in the centre of the park and beat a man and then pass it.

I think we've seen from this months transfer window that the system is changing very quickly. Even if we do find a bit of cash underneath one of the directors bed they will be very careful about spending it.

Of course it also depends on how we finish the season. Champions league qulaification would almost guarentee top quality players flocking to Goodison, many of which on free transfers. Uefa qualification would allow us to buy the players we want and a mid table finish could make us look like Spurs by "nearly" signing players.

Beasely or Donovan would fit in well with the rest of the squad as we already have a North American flavour but we'd probably have to wait until the end of 2003 MLS season.

Frankly I doubt we'll see much activity though. We have a good young squad. A few younsters like Chadwick, McLeod might make more of an impact next year and one or two incoming players will keep up teh competition for places.

The reason I said Donovan and Beasley is because they were two players I've seen play a lot who I think would bring something a bit different to Everton, and of course there's that huge upside of a long future, both are only 20.

The suggestion of West Ham players is a very good one. I doubt Everton could get Defoe because I think a big club would gobble him up, but Joe Cole is a possibility. Also Lee Bowyer is a good one, if he has his head on straight. I think that by having a strategy of getting a top player or two from the relegated teams would be an effective in adding some good players to the team.

We don't need Defoe as we have plenty of strikers and I think Rooney is better anyway.

Cole would be magic, maybe Carrick might be a little cheaper but I do not want to see Bowyer at Everton. I have no respect for him and he would simply "rock the boat", Big Dunc would punch his lights out.

The only guys we could possibly get from West Ham would be Michael Carrick... and what about Trevor Sinclair?

They both would cost 5-6 million pounds each though, maybe Carrick a bit cheaper.

I thought about Sinclair. I wonder where he will move if they get relegated. For some reason, I think that West Ham will escape and won't fall into the relegation trap when May comes around. Though that may come back to burn me.

Leeds or West Ham, which one is in more of a crisis?

I do like the Joe Cole suggestiong, also don't rule out Reyna, he might well be possible if Sunderland get relegated.

Cole is a good choice though Reyna spends an awfull long time on the sidelines with injury problems. Something Everton have far too much of. I cant see Donovan leaving the US as no other club in Europe were able to lure him away, but then no English club has tried.

What about Kewell? I realise it's probably not going to happen, but Kewell would be ideal on the left with Cole in the centre.

Alan Smith?

Johan Earlemander(sp?) of Feyenoord is a brillaint young player and can play in an attacking position all across the midfield.

maybe there are some good young players from the continent we should be looking at as well.

I think Reyna is a good choice and though he does spend time on the sidelines, its not every year. This knee injury is the most serious injury I believe he's had.

And as for Kewell, I don't see any way of him coming to Everton. His price is very high and I don't think Everton could afford him, however, if he did, it would be an awesome addition. He's classy player. But I really don't think it'll happen cuz its not like Leeds are going to get relegated.

And I think Donovan would rather come to England than Germany. I just think that he would enjoy himself here more. I don't even imagine he'll be in Leverkusen in two years. I honestly don't think that he ever wants to play for them and I think he regrets ever signing for them.

And Alan Smith would definitely not come. He loves Leeds too much.

This is of course all speculation.

Reyna is a good player but he has had a series of Hammys as well, Rooney and Smithe together may be a wonder who will get the most red cards in a season. Though Smithe has toned down a bit this season. In an interview a few months ago Donovan said he couldnt see himself playing anywhere but the US and in California, He loves the Surf, and there is no surf On Merseyside. I cant see him on his board at Southport beach.:D
Great footballer for being a laid back surf dude.
How about Rodrigo getting another year to prove to everyone that he is the player Ive seen him as.

What about the French striker who plays for Sunderland. Can't remember his name but ManU were rumoured to want him during the transfer window. He's fast and has some skill. His dribbling skill stood out to me when I saw him. I think its possible considering Sunderland look to be on the way down. You could also consider Kevin Phillips a possibility if Sunderland go down.

I thought that Man Ure was supposedly going to go in for him.

Yeah that's the guy. And Toffees rule, ManU did want him so if Everton could get him before them then he'd be a great addition.

I'd like to see Bellion too, but the last I heard, he was so "unsettled" about ManU and Sunderland fighting over him that he was thinking about chucking it in and going back to France.

I really would like to see McBride stay over on a permanent basis. I know that there's approximately a 0% chance of that happening now, and we'll have to see how much time he gets when Rooney comes back, but from the moment I heard the deal, I wished it wasn't a loan.

Maybe it could happen after this MLS season, and if Columbus really stinks up the joint he could be snuck in under the August transfer window. I know he'll be 31 by then, but I really believe that when his three month loan is up and he's back in MLS, we'll wish he was still at Goodison.

What about Matt Holland? Is he on Sunderland now? If he is, and it looks as if they are going to take the drop, we should go for him...would do our centre mids a great deal of credibility.

We need speedy wingers with better crossing. What about Ricardo Gardner?

Matt Holland is still at Ipswich. I don't think they'll be looking to let him go, but stranger things have happened.
