So if the strategy is to look for players on teams likely to be relegated . . . . the leading teams are -
- Sunderland
- West Ham United
- Bolton Wanderers
- Birmingham City
- West Bromich Albion
Haven't looked at the table in at least a week, but these teams appear to be closest to the bottom if I remember right. So what players on these teams stand out to you?

Not many really. I mean those teams are at the bottom of the table for good reasons. Ask a Leeds fan 3 years ago who he wanted from the Everton side of that time and I'd imagine he'd have to think pretty hard about it.
Cole as we've said is very classy, maybe Aliou Cisse or Jmie Clapham from Brum. West Brom are a first division side through and through and Botlon are mostly ageing international journeymen.
We should be rejoicing the amount of talent that we already have at our disposal.

You're right about being thankful for the current squad, but if European competition is on the cards, I think another player or two would be a plus.

Well, they say that D'Alessandro at River Plate is only one year away from heading to Europe - why not Toffee Blue?

Nigerian International Julius Aghahowa might be a nice one to look at. He's with Shaktar Donshek in Ukraine right now.

Don't forget Macca might be heading out from Real Madrid...anyone want to reconvert him to a blue? Might be able to attone foe his mistake in joining the reds...

I can't imagine D'Allesandro in the premiership. There just are not players like him in England. Managers have a hard time forming a functioning lineup with that kind of player in England. And I actually heard he was going to Juventus.

Macca would be great, but he's not leaving Real. Most likely because of his ridiculously high wages, especially considering he's riding the pine most of the time.

I could be wrong, the bit I read was in the March edition of 4-4-2.
Macca has already said that he would leave Real in 18 months if he failed to get regular first team football....And considering the new owner's policy, again thanks to 4-4-2, it's looking more like when and not if Macca leaves....
That being said, the question of Where remains...word has it Highbury might be looking to sign the winger...

Looking back at the title of the thread, "Who do you want to see at Goodison?"

Funnily enough that's exactly what David Moyes said when asked the same question.
Now all we have to do is find the money and be serious contenders for the Champions League final. I'm sure Thierry would then jump at the chance at joining Everton.

Macca is a self-confessed Blue like many of the recent red heroes: Fowler, Rush amoungst others. But I can't see Moyes searching too hard. An ego the size of Anfield has no place at Goodison Park and he's not getting any younger.
The best way to describe Macca is great dribbler who can beat 3 men and then looses the ball to the fourth.
We have a squad full of English internationals. We don't need an ex-international.

the only reason Macca is an 'ex-international' is because, surprise, he can't get a game at Real...now some of it is purely due to competition, but on the other hand based on an article I was reading in 4-4-2 it said that the owner has it in the contracts of players like Zidane and Ronaldo and Figo that they basically cannot be left out of the starting lineup barring injury or what have you.

That sounds like paper talk. Whether or not it's true I don't know and am unlikely to ever know for sure.
My point is, while Macca is quite a skilful player I don't think we need to be shelling out a ton of cash in wages for a guy like him. He can't tackle and has a knack of being completely invisible for a sizeable amount of a game. The reason he wasn't picked again for England was that when he did play for the national team he was crap. He's 31. Not over the hill but not someone you have as part of a long term plan which is what David Moyes is trying to create. After Gascoigne and Ginola I'm tired of aging super-stars who play for a season or so before retiring. Knowing our luck he'd only go and injure himself and then we've got 40,000 pounds a week in the treatment room.
Lets get some more exciting, talented, passionate younger players who will respect Moyes and follow his instructions.

Right, I've read all about him being a Blues fan growing up, but my point was that he won't be making 60,000 a week at Everton. He is making that at Real and I think he too realizes he's not getting any younger, and wants to cash in on it while he can. He has his occasional runs in the side but then gets beaten out by another player.
And whats wrong with having an ex-international? He's a good player and Everton will likely not have to worry about him being left fatigued from international duty. A positive in my eyes. And he could play on either side.

The Macca debate will contine indefinitley until his future is sorted, so moving from that then, who else isn't on our books that we should get?
If yo play CM and have had good experience with certain, *affordable* players with Everton, feel free to post them. (since we're always bankrupt in the game I think we'll be seeing lots of Swedish names creeping up!) :D
