It's a little corny, but I love the Parade of Nations at the opening ceremony.
I'll also watch every second of the figure skating, and as much as everything else as I can. esp. speed skating, downhill skiing and hockey.

I like watching pretty much any winter sport that has speed. Skiing (downhill, slalom, super-G, ski jumping), speed skating, bobsled, luge. Olympic ice hockey is generally more exciting than the NHL, and each game means more.
It's slightly annoying that the host city has become "Torino", when the English word is already Turin. The World Cup is advertised here as being in Germany, not Deutschland, for example. But then I guess the average American has probably never even heard of Turin to begin with.

I love the Olympics. Although it is not exactly the as it was years ago but I like the idea of having non professional athletes from all over the world compete together, no matter how small your country is. In Ireland it's a very big deal if we just win 1 medal in the Olympics. I like all the winter sports, even got into Curling the last night round.

Spot on, speaking of which, when I first arrived here in America from Austria, people asked me where I came from, so I told them Austria, They were perplexed, even a teacher, and kep insisting I meant Australia.

I'm totally jazzed for the stealth Olympics from Grand Torino. I actually like every event, except figure skating and ice dancing. The Winter Olympics blow the Summer Olympics away.
As for Torino versus Turin, I agree with the organizers. Everything should be know by it's proper name. From now on, please call me Le Rouge des Verts Monts. Merci.

Lloyd: That's a lovely accent... New Jersey?
Lady at bus stop: It's Austrian.
Lloyd: Austria! Well, then. G'day mate! Let's put another shrimp on the barbie!

I know Jennifer Rodriguez and her family pretty well. When we lived in Florida in '89-'90, I skated at the same roller rink as her. She was a bad ass roller skater back then, and it's been fun to see her switch to ice speed skating and compete at Worlds and the last Olys... I hope she wins gold this time. (Women's 1500M is her main event)
I also met Sasha Cohen a few times when I lived in Lake Forest. She skated at an ice rink in Irvine/Costa Mesa along with Naomi Nari Nam (who now skates pairs but didn't make the Oly team this year). Sasha is every bit the ice queen that you see on TV, so I wouldn't call her a friend... she was a bitchy little snip, but you could tell she would grow up to be pretty hot. :)

And isn't that really why we'll root for her.

There was practically no advertising for these games this year. I wouldn't have known about them had I not known about them (as an internet surfer) and had I not watched the 18 commercials on the Superbowl.
That said, I will not be watching.

Do you know the approximate time when things are going to get started, or will it just be rolling all day straight into the opening ceremonies?

Here's NBC's schedule resource -- it's crap, but at least you'll have an idea: http://www.nbcolympics.com/results/index.html
