Mine is simple, I've been called johno, short for Jonathan for a long time when a friend of mine asked me what Johno meant I said, its short for Jonathan, her reply was, well that's silly you're huge, like a mountain... and thus, Mount killamanjohno (which sounds like mt kilimanjaro) was born.

first few times i came here i was intimidated by you because of your name. I didnt really make the connection to mt. killamanjaro so i thought it was like mt. kill a man johno. :D

Sounds more Tolkien-esque to me.

But then again.....I'm a LOTR geek so........:p
I always thought that as well.

1st year coaching at school & the players asked what to call me: coach, Autrey, or whatever. I replied "Lord, Autrey, Master of the Universe" which came to be the acronym of LAMU. 202 is my room number at school.

In other news, on yesterday's US History quiz, 32 of 57 students got the Man Utd -Fulham score right for extra credit. Just doing my part to manipulate the American youth.

I've never read any of the LOTR books, nor did I see any of the movies. I am told -- by self-professed LOTR geeks such as yourselves -- that the word "gildar" is the name of a dock or something such in the books, however.

First time I saw your name on the messageboards I thought that it was cut off because it was too long and some how it alluded to John O'Shea. Sorry, bro.:o :D

A dock? Hmmmm? That type of knowledge is even more geekier than what I possess, as I didn't know that bit of trivia. I am geeky enough to have looked up the word on Thain's....but it didn't have an entry.

uhhh mine id definitely the lamest story of everyone's... Back in the days that Motter speaks of, I needed some login/moniker that no one else had so that I wouldn't have to remember my login on every ********ing website in the world. Two random words, big, and toga, seemed right lol.

I tried "monkeyfister" which was achieved the same way but some deemed it too offensive for some reason

Really exciting, edge-of-your-seat story behind my screen-name, there is...

"Mick Murphy" was already taken? :)

When I first started playing about 10 years ago I didn't feel I should play midfield as it required dribbling, so I played right back.

People used to see this tall skinny Black guy and figure, heck I can go by him.

When I would take the ball from them I'd turn around and say, "Sorry, kid. This is my house!"

that makes 3... I've actually avoided it on purpose because I like to do some things or not do some things just to be different and because I hate over-hyped literature. I also had a professor a woman, who was a huge Tolkein fan herself and that was enough of a turnoff.

I remember being in my young 20s and thinking the exact same thing. I avoided LOTR for the same reasons hehe

As you get older (I'm 34 now), you'll see one thing as you grow older: most people, once they reach around 23-30 years of age, have grown out of that need to go "out of the way" to be different; they just are happy doing what they want without worrying about whether they are the same/different/whatever. I was a total neurotic 20-something who did things to be different on purpose. In the end it was all for nothing because I realized that I am who I am and I like what I like. ******** anyone who doesn't appreciate that...

tbh it was all about having self confidence and self respect, things that I didn't have as a struggling college student. I wasn't making hardly any cash, struggled to meet girls, and wasn't doing everything in life that I wanted to so it was a natural response (look at me! I'm different! Don't look at my wallet - look at my cool shirt or crazy approach to life instead!). I'm not saying this to be critical of anyone, btw, I'm just posting some wisdom so that you guys might experience a slightly easier time of it hehe

Blast away...

no blasting required... i like to be different, which i may or maynot grow out of... but i'm also an opionionated bastard too... and I wasn't for one instant interested in LOTR when I saw the trailers... how can i prove I'm weird? I loved the Xmen comics and tv show... fell asleep at the theatre during both movies... and I'll still go to see the 3rd

Well considering the fact that I first read the LOTR books in 4th grade.....I wasn't too concerned at the time about being different.

Plus not reading a certain book because you're trying to be different is absurd and I guess I'm not clear on how that makes you different .... It's like people who didn't read the Davinci Code because it was so hyped.. Was it the best book ever? No but it was a damn good read.. Why deny yourself something you may enjoy because of some inner desire to be different that others will never notice...

I actually read it before it was hyped, and also Angels & Demons. In my opinion, Angels & Demons was a much better book, and I think they shoulda made that into a movie instead. But I guess they wouldn't since all the Christians would most likely go crazy over it.

I read The Da Vinci Code and I have to agree that it's an entertaining read. The chapters are nice and short so you can really speed your way through it. The premise is quite silly, however.

I've also read The Lord of the Rings countless times. Very rewarding for fans of fantasy, probably much less so for non-fans.

Agrre 100% Angels and Demaons was a far superior book to the Davinci Code.. It didn't hurt that I read it while in Rome...

You're right though.....the book was over-hyped but a good page turner nonetheless.
