Tried doing a search for this, but I don't think I ran across anything yet.

I got XM Radio for Christmas and am pleased that the WC will be broadcast on there. It'll definately make things interesting at the office (I usually listen to ESPN Radio and CNBC).

First, who will be calling the games?

Second, does anyone know how many channels XM is devoting to this or will it just be one channel

I hope you speak spanish because it will be on XM deportivo ch. 147. You may catch some games on BBC world service Ch. 131. I haven't heard of any other programming announcements, but they might surprise us.

XM will also provide wall to wall coverage and play by play in English for World Cup 2006.

Fantastic!! I guessing ESPN will provide their audio for the matches, or it will be the BBC.

I know absolutely nothing, but I really don't think it's gonna be as simple as picking up the ESPN or BBC feed. IMNSHO calling a game on TV is different than calling a game over the radio. With TV, the announcers have the luxury of having the game broadcast and announcing to that while us poor XM Radio folks will not have any visual aids. My guess is that XM will put together a team of announcers for the WC that are good at conveying the action on the field to people that can't see what is going on.

That's why I expect the BBC world service will be your source. It'll be the BBC radio feed from Germany. I listened to Euro 2004 on the world service, and I loved it.

XM and its broadcast partner Futbol de Primera have amassed an impressive team for XM’s broadcast coverage, featuring some of the most respected and decorated names in soccer from the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and El Salvador. Jeff Agoos, Thomas Dooley, Carlos Hermosillo, Bora Milutinovic, Phil Schoen, Carlos Valderrama, Luis Alves “Zague” and others will provide commentary, analysis and play-by-play coverage live from Germany on XM channel 148 and XM Deportivo (XM channel 147), XM’s 24-hour Spanish-language sports channel.

Any updates on who will be calling the games in English on XM? I'm hoping for the BBC Radio Five Live and Five Live Sports Extra feeds from the UK.

Found this on the Crew forum: It will be Dwight Burgess. Go to the bottom of the page:
