Thought we should have a separate thread just for the Very Small Rocks Transfer Window Draft.

From the previous thread, I'll import:

1. The Draft Order
2. The Draft Rules

I have also made some consolidated lists on the comings and goings and will post that here. It is my best effort at merging information from BBC.com and Soccernet.UK, as of the morning of 1/30. I will have a post for:

1. Transfers OUT of the Premiership
2. Transfers Within the Premiership (for info only as these players are already available to be chosen.)
3. Transfers INTO the Premiership
4. Late Pending Transfer Rumors

As to WHEN? We need to do this Friday evening so as to be able to use the new draftees for this week's games. I'm thinking 6 or 7 PM EST. This may be early for West Coast managers, who may still be at work. Any later and we force our European managers to stay up till the wee hours. I don't expect it will take over an hour. My first choice is 6 PM EST and second choice 7 PM EST.

Where? I'll open up a BigSoccer chat room entitled Very Small Rocks TW Draft. If we need a password, I'll use verysmallrocks without spaces.

If you are unable to participate in this draft personally, please send me or another manager your limited power of attorney and your wish list so I or someone else can make your selection(s) for you.

You can send me a BigSoccer PM to Hal or email me at haljudijones@earthlink.net

The draft order, per discussions on the other thread will go from Worst to First with FOMUS adjusted 212 points for his restart. As the draft was delayed, I used the latest total scores which included the games on 1/29. I ignored any adjustments for number of transfers.

1. Trollpop Aviation Hal Trollpop 634
2. Jones Cracked Wheat J. Jones 732
3. FOMUS Brian Schoenfelder 543+212=755
4. Cape Tribulation Terry Venables 772
5. 1800-UK.com Glenn Hoddle 804
6. London St. Germain Jimballs Stoobeyboobey 811
7. Chelsea in PA paul hughes 819
8. Kopite Juniors Chloe Adams 995

1. The draft order will be worst to first for round one and then reversed each round until everyone passes.

2. Any team that has had any of its players Transferred OUT of the Premiership, will be given pre-draft opportunity to select a player. I will review my consolidated Transfers OUT of the Premiership List to see if any teams get additional picks. The additional picks would be for a player held by a team before the transfer window opened, not someone they acquired subsequently in order to get an extra pick. I'll post Pre-Draft picks, if there are any, and their order as I determine them.

As of 1/30, it appears we have NO pre-draft selections due to Transfers OUT.

3. Once a person has drafted a player, he must immediately acquire the player and post what moves he made to acquire the player. This way, the other teams may opt to grab someone's cast offs.

4. The player's released to acquire a new draftee immediately go back into the draft pool and are available for selection in addtion to NEW Transfers INTO the Premiership.

5. Let's allow 5 min. for the draft pick and another 5 min. after the draft for managers to acquire the player and maybe make any trades before they have to release a player.

6. With a known draft order, players may trade to acquire a better draft position prior to the draft.

Trade rumours that Kopite Juniors were willing to give up Thierry Henry for Hal's first round pick (McBride) were proved to be unfounded this morning.

After the 7 year old coach was slapped around by her Dad, the imminent trade was called off. She has been told to stay in her first grade classroom until the draft is over :D

After attending the MLS SuperDraft in KC a week or two ago, our draft is much cooler. ;)

I raised this point on the other thread, but figure it's better shifted to here:

"I see a potential problem: Will CYKI have all the new signees registered by the time the window closes at 1am? I doubt it.

I guess we have to decide whether it is "fair" to hold a draft when many of the players might not be available for an extra week. One possibility is that we could just advise managers to factor that into their thinking.

However, that manager would still for forced to make "some" kind of move for the player in order to make the dropped player available down the line. So it gets kind of complicated..."

Any suggestions on how we handle this? Say if I take Ballesta at #2, but CYKI doesn't get him registered in time for this week. Would I have to drop a striker anyway, so that the #3 person could have a shot at him--as he was expecting?

Good question, Jay.

1. If the drafted player is not in the premiershipsoccer.com pool of players yet, you will not know for sure either his position or his price. Therefore, you will not be able to make an intelligent decision on whom to drop.

Solution: Let the draft proceed. Once the player is added to the pool, you'll make an announcement in the Very Small Rocks forum at premiershipsoccer.com of the player you drop and it will be a free-for-all like it is for any other acquisition.

2. Since you cannot acquire such a player before the deadline for Saturday's games, you should not have to give up a player. Yes, this will depress the draft pool additions of dropped players. Hopefully, there are not too many instances of this.

Has anyone other than Mark or Hal committed to this draft time yet? (An email this afternoon might be in order to make sure everyone is aware).

Also, none of the news signees have been added yet. I might lean towards holding this draft over the weekend so that everyone gets to add their new players at the same time.

To help kick off this draft, Trollpop Aviation pledges to select Everton's Brian McBride with the first overall pick in tonight's Transfer Window Draft.

Trollpop Aviation will be releasing Shaun Goeter, the MCY striker into the draft pool.

Hal, have you heard from anyone else about their involvement in this, it seems only 3 of us have been posting recently.

I think this is a good idea.

Hal,

With so little response and only 4 or 5 hours until the proposed start time, it seems not all players are ready for this.

Unless we get a quick response from Paul and Michel we may have to hold off until the weekend? What do you think?

Mark

1. Everyone should be ready for this. We postponed the initial draft due to lack of interest and that no one was yet in the premiershipsoccer.com database. We postponed it until today.

2. I have waiting making my moves this week so I can use it on the draft. I still have my free move this week. Delaying the draft further makes me either waste this week's free move or makes me make other moves this week that might have to be revised next week.

3. Due to the response shown for both proposed draft days, who's to say a further delay would be any different?

4. As McBride is in the database and I have the first pick, I will put McBride on my team tonight and drop Goater into the draft pool. If no one else wants to continue the draft tonight, then you can pick it up with the second pick whenever someone else wants to try to organize it.

Don't get me wrong I am ready to go. I am just concerned others are not around. It seems Paul resurfaced so it sounds like we have a quorum, Michel around?

Incredible overhead kick by Gudjohnsen wasn't it.

As for Emile, he has been very impressive these last two matches. I am taking a wait and see on him, which means someone else might sneak in and buy him before me.

As I have the last pick, I am looking for scraps, discarded unwanted rebellious types fit my team quite well ;)
