I think Brazil has the best. Portugal used to have a good style but since the coach screwd the team up we(portugal) dont. Korea has an okay style they just need creative forwards like Ronaldo , Pauleta, Owen ...........and the list goes on.

Wouldn't that not depend on where you are from?
I mean traditional Italians like the defensive first type of footie.Play not to lose if yeh like.
Traditional Brazilian is all out attack. You may score but we'll score more if yeh like.
German,...very stoic.Don't make a mistake if yeh like.
And my favourite...English traditional "get it up to the big man" type.Fast and entertaining if yeh like.
Takes all sorts.

Brasil- The only team wich can play beautiful AND effective.
France- Beautiful play. Nice teamplay, many passes, but not very effective.
Germany- Not really beautiful, but the best defensive play, and good offensive over the wings.
wales for sure. make 'em think youre crap...by really being crap for years. lull them into complacency. then WHAMMO!
works like a charm. just ask the argies and the gemans. not only do you get a draw or a victory out of the deal, but you get to revel in their humiliation at being equalled by a "lesser" side.

Brazil -- Wouldn't the best style be the one that actually WON?
OH, MY GOD...I CAN'T SEE!!!!!!!
Sorry, just a blinding flash of the obvious.

Actually, no. I think the question is pretty subjective, I guess you're a "results-oriented" guy. Me, I like watching a good game, and I like watching beautiful play.
My answer? The USA, because at times they play beautifully, they usually play hard, and in the loss against Germany, they played honorably--fighting hard to score a goal rather than trying to draw a foul or take frustrated cheap shots at German players.
I'd like to see a little more skill and a whole lot more consistancy, but I love to watch those guys.
And there's no way in aitch-ee-double hockey sticks I'd vote Germany the team with the second-best "style" in the world right now.

No, not really.
The most effective style would be the one that won.
The best style is purely a personal choice to the individual is it not?

This is another one of those threads that keep popping up. It allows supporters of teams that got their a$$ kicked in the world cup to talk about how stylish their play or how many world class players thay have etc., especially since they don't have success of their team to talk about.(Except Brazil, after that we are all losers.)

The US doesn't really have a defined style of play. I guess you could call it the chameleon (sp?) style. We taylor it to our opponent. We can play Italy's defensive counter attacking style. We can also come out on the attack and connect several passes in a row playing a possession style.

there a mix of Germanys Defense and Italys Counter attacking with a bit of Englands Long Balls ...... bUT they dont have skill to pull it off with elegance.

There was one win in particular which looked pretty elegant to me...

(Give me Brasil every time...however...)
Costa Rica played a very open game, and I enjoyed them. Spain was very enjoyable.
While Ireland does not play a pretty game, I always enjoy watching them. It's like their style fits their persona - scrappy team that plays with a lot of heart. It's a shame they can't make penalties (3 out of 7 vs. Spain...Good Lord!)

...The "Best". Not "Prettiest," "Cutest," "Highest Scoring," but "Best." The most fun national side I ever saw play were the Dutch.
But soccer isn't a TRL-Backstreet Boys popularity contest...It is results based. That's why the Dutch didn't even make the big dance. The "Best" holds the belt.

Lets put it another way..
A mexico fan doesn't have license to take the piss out of anyone.
The last time mexico played us about 12 months ago ,they got annihilated.
It was a 4 - 0 scoreline that should've been about 10 - 0, judging by the chances we missed.
mexico are lame and always will be.
end of story.

That has nothing to do with it. Holland played like ************ in the qualifying group and had some bad luck with that. In the end we made it to a decisive match against the Irish. A Dutch squad in a bit of a decent form would never be threatened by the Irish, but Holland played it's worst game in years in many peoples opinions.

...So, then, that day, the dutch didn't have the best style of play...
