BVB wasn't able to dominate a game we should have dominated
Midfield SUCKED, Strikers Sucked
Weide had some nice saves ....
Defense had a good match in general , although Poldi and CO had some chances
again we helped an opponent who was on the ground

i think smolarek had a best chance to score in the whole game as his shot after adonkor's great cross just skipped over the bar and he was opened no defender was marking smolarek

And he had another good chance in the second half, where he had a bad first touch and Wessels was able to save.

if you ask me ... we suck
I was disappointed with the performance, but I won't sit here and say "We suck". Anyone who thought Koln were just going to "roll over" for us, just doesn't know s#it about the game.
I'm not "happy" with the result. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty pi$$ed off, especially with all the pitch excuses they were making after the match. Especially that the team showed they still can't impose their will on an inferior team fighting their hearts out. I'm pi$$ed off about all that s#it.
But "We Suck?" No, I don't think so. We held off an opponent hell-bent on saving their lives and I think we need to find a way to be satisfied with the point.
After all, being in fifth place doesn't matter right now. Being there at the end of the 34th match day is what matters.
I see you knew better than to put that "We Suck" bulls#it on the list!!!!

On any given Sunday...
...hopes are smashed. It is like a curse: On Saturday all teams placed around BVB foozled and Borussia could have been the winner of the match day. It just needed a victory at the goats to take us to an UEFA Cup spot. But a mediocre match ended goalless.

were we dragged down to their style of play? Did we have alot of chances but not convert? was there anyone who did well? What's the story?
I watched the match on PPLive. Here's some of the things I took from it:
1) Koln were determined to take the three points: They played well in the first half and at the start of the second. After that, they began to tire. BVB played the "rope-a-dope" tactics perfectly, but couldn't score the one goal to win the match.
2) The pitch did play a part in how the match went, but I'm sick of seeing BVB players use it as an excuse (See www.borussia-dortmund.com).
After all, Koln had to play on the same pitch.
3) Weidenfeller and Rosicky were our best players in my opinion. I thought Buckley also did pretty well in place of Gambino, but maybe I'm a bit biased there. Buckley had a potential winning goal robbed by a great save from Wessels. I thought Dede and Degen stepped it up in the second half too. I still worry about our central defense.
4) Once again, BvM gave the team the best chance to win: BvM did something yesterday I never saw Sammer do once. He changed tactics twice in a match. He didn't change formations, but he changed what certain players did. It was clearly visible to those who are into tactics.
5) Although taking fifth place now really isn't that important, I think showing that the team is mentally strong enough to overcome "lower" challengers who come to fight is important and BVB haven't done that as long as I can remember. I think this is a problem. I believe we have a team of "nice boys" who are missing something important to any team who wants to be a champion one day. Those who are on our e-mail list will know these words all too well.
Our team is missing KILLER INSTINCT!!
Our guys never seem to go out with the mission of bludgeoning the other team to death. If we can't win playing our "run down the flanks, cross and head" game or with something from our defenders, then we don't win. We never win matches with teams who come to BATTLE as Koln did yesterday.
Maybe we need to find that one "a$$hole" who will push the others to impose our will on opponents.
I think this team is missing that Sammer/Effenberg/Keane type of guy. I thought Kehl would turn into that guy, but while Kehl is a good leader, he isn't the a$$hole needed to push the team to beat scrappy teams who come to fight.
Who could that guy be for us? I don't know. I honestly don't know. But I feel we need him to step up fast. :o

Possibly, but I doubt that. You see ties between teams who just battle each other to that draw. BVB are usually out-fought, but have enough "class" to "hold on" for the draw.
We are seemingly always unable to impose our will on inferior opposition. It's been a problem for years.
I know. You will tell me your guys have had the same problem for years too. Sorry. It doesn't make me feel any better........ :o

THIS will be a great game to watch! Our performance against Koln aside, I think we have the weapons to nip a win.
Will Amoah be starting this one or is he still out with that knock he got in Egypt?
