Two years ago when CQ was at Real Madrid the three Americans at Man Utd did very well and all were "fast tracked" to regular first team playing time...Howard was EPL G.K. of the year....Spector was young player of the year....Cooper had just scored twice at Old Trafford to beat City in the Manchester Sr. Cup Final....and two years on all are out of the picture...what gives??... anyone else think that Howard would still be in the nets had he given up 6 goals in his last two league games...against Blackburn and Fulham ??....makes no sense....other than that CQ has more influence than makes sense, has SAF's ear and has a dislike of Americans...(maybe related to his time at NY/NJ Metro Stars when he was drummed out of town and was without question the worst "manager" in MLS....the guy is a fcuking joke and it's time....no, past time, to call a spade a spade....

I think we should get Van Basten as an assistant making him adjust to the club, and preparing him to take over the role at the club. He has shaved down some of the Ego problems with the netherlands, and he made some virtually unknown players into useful starters.

Interesting thread. I am not privy to all the details regarding the americans at manchester united but I am curious as to why he keeps getting all these high profile positions.
I have never seen anything in his results or the playing styles of his teams which would warrant the responsitibilities he is given.

Oh yeah, I just think Carlos Q is just Anti-Common sense.
Tim Howard was keeper of the year...
CQ did a sub par job at Madrid, and its apparent he has problems, but what does Fergie see in him?

yea Van Basten will leave his head coach position for an assistant job at United.
This theory is rubbish by the way. We all know why Howard ain't playing anymore and why Spector has been sent out on loan.

I have an extremely hard time believing that Carlos Queroiz is anti-American soccer.
Since his MetroStars job, he was afterall paid half a million by the USSF to produce a report on improving youth development in the U.S.
As to Howard, he is definitely not in Van Der Saar's class - and when he was Man U's #1 he kept Roy Carroll on the pine for extended stretches that included less than optimal performances.
Spector seems to be progressing nicely, his lack of starting time at Charlton seems to be more a consequence of bad timing and injuries than anything else.
As for Cooper, who knows. Maybe he just wasn't what Man U was looking for.

He wouldnt leave immediatley, but he could do what Mclaren and Hiddink are doing. IF he knows that the job could be his after a coule of years why wouldnt he?
Its just a spur of the moment idea anyhow.

200k of which he managed, somehow, to "misplace"....it is still missing...don't take my word for it...ask someone, anyone, at the USSF and see what response you get...the guy is a crook.

SO what is the deal with CQ? Why exactly did the USSF pay him all that money and did anytning come out of the conclusions of his report? I won't do as far as to say fraud but he seems shady.

Did I say...Carlos makes lineup decisions at ManU?
I brought up Tim Howard because its funny how Timmy was the EPL Keeper of the year one season, then a Man Utd benchwarmer the next... to Roy Carrol of all people.

So why is VDS not going to be benched ? my mother could have saved Fulhams second goal last weekend and he has let in SIX in his last TWO EPL games...? had Howard done that he would be on the bench for a L O N G time....oh oh...my bad....he is on the bench...CQ has it in for Americans....orchestrated Coopers F'd up deal to Academica...(they are in Portugal aren't they?)....the guy is a crook...plain and simple.

He's on the right track with Holland right now, he built the best Dutch team in some time and so far it's been working out very well. His high profile status will keep him the National Team coach for some time, and if he leaves, he will leave to be a headcoach, not any assistant of some sort.
And for your other point, after Howard's first year, he started to perform very bad, so bad that Carrol was called up, and whenever Howard got a chance to prove himself he ********ed up again and again. I don't see why this is such a mystery to anyone, it was very clear.

I also suspect something with this CQ guy ... but in your opinion, is he just a con artist who can charm people like ferguson or does he have someting tangible to offer?

I however will say fraud....and the money DID go missing.....call the USSF and press them on it....if you want the run around...

I'm not a big Queiroz fan but let's not go as far as implying that he has some sort of power of Ferguson's decisions to manage his players. As I stated in my last post, Howard was sh!t after his first season ( I personally wouldnt have voted him keeper of the year but he was one of the best). He continuously got second chances and he kept performing bad. It's only logical not to start him.
I'm sure you know of VdS's prolific career, that alone should kept him the starting spot, but let's also be rational here, he's been one of the season's best players. I can't begin to tell you how many times he saved our asses. With that said, every player has bad spells, even Schmeichel let in some blunders in his day. Don't attack VDS for two mediocre games when nearly every other one he's been spectacular. At this time and moment, it shouldn't even be argued that Howard should replace VdS.

Pardon my ignorance: but did he win any titles in portugal? Did he coach any famous youth teams, club teams or national sides to any championships? Did his teaching produce any prodigies? Inquiring minds want to know.

Go back and watch Holland's games in the 1998 World Cup...VDS let in 6 goals in that tournament and 5 went between his legs !!! he is not the great GK you lot think he is and were he Tim Howard he would be on the bench.
