Not really. I knew it's within the next two or three weeks, the sport is jus ttoo irrelevant to me to care about stats like that. I'll watch it but the whole package is a complete joke. (as are all American sports)

Don't worry, my TV is in the same room as my computer, I'll be doing both. :D

Four years ago, I used to follow every season with excitment, and catch several games every week. I'm a huge Devils fan. But lately I just can't get into it, especially after the whole controversy of the past years.

Understandable. The lockout was shocking, since I figured that the league and the players would be aware of how fragile a state the league was in, but I guess not. Still, the league and the game is better now because of it (more open game, financially more sound, etc) although it may never completely recover in this country. I actually thought that the lockout would cause the league to fold a few of the southern teams but unfortunately that never panned out. Hopefully you can get back into it because in my opinion the one ice product is much better. Not to mention you've got a couple local boys on the Devils sqaud.
For those who don't follow the game hockey is the only sport in the U.S. that still has that unwritten honor code amongst it's players. That might be the best part of the sport for me personally. It's very old school, somewhat noble in a backwards kind of way.

I love the NHL, but I liked the "old" NHL better than the new one. For me the game was always perfect, it never needed to be changed except for maybe the size of goaltending equipment. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to the sport and I just do not believe that Gary Bettman has done anything good for the game at all. He has tailored it to America and the casual fan much more than meet the demands of the true fan. He's a stupid ********ing commissioner who doesn't believe the game is sustainable in the country that birthed it, but believes putting a team in Kansas City or Phoenix is better for the game because the "market" is bigger. I pose this question to the bastard: what good is a city of over a million people if less than 1/4 of them care about hockey? Put teams in Canada and northern United States. Leave the teams in California because they actually seem to like hockey there.
Oh yeah...Go Leafs Go!

Alrighty so I'm tired so I'll keep this brief. I agree with your comments on Bettman, he's a grade A ********. And I agree with your comments on franchines locations. Putting them in the south and the southeast is the dumbest thing imaginable. I agree with more teams in Canada and in more "hockey friendly" locations in the U.S., which is mostly northern cities, but I think that any really hockey towns in the north already have teams, Wisconsin the only state that really springs to mind as not having one. The shoot outs are exciting for the casual fans but I think they are cheesy ways to settle a game. Other than that, the salary cap I think was a good idea, and the overrall play on the ice with less clutching and grabbing and the new faster, more skill oriented game is better imo. It obviously will draw more casual fans back but I think that the game had gotten too bogged down in the last 5/6 years, and I'm a lifelong hockey fan. Don't mistake this as to thinking I don't like big hits or fighting or what have you, but the level of play was being diluted between the lack of rule enforcement and because of stupid expansion weakening the talent pool.
Go Wild Go!
