Just wondering if there's any fellow Pontiac enthusiasts on here. I have a 2000 Grand Am GT1 and I'm moving up to a G6 GTP (hopefully soon!).

From a design standpoint, I like Pontiac more than any other domestic car.
That's not saying much considering its competition

There is only one pontiac I like, and its actually an Aussie built Holden.
Everything else doesn't appeal to me at all. I drove a G6 and was overwhelmed by how cheap this car feels for something that sells at $25K. It was that bad.

I know this is an old thread, but I was poking around for performance parts the other day and landed on this site. http://www.doctorspeed.com/grand_am/
There's actual Grand Am enthuiasts out there. I'm currently cutting my teeth on a '98 Malibu LS. It's well paid for and won't be worth a damn when I'm done driving it. I figure it's the perfect vehicle for me to learn on before I start dropping major bucks on a real car.
GM's feel cheap for the most part. Even though I plan on test driving a few GM models, I'm leaning toward some foreign makes. I'd love to be able to afford a Suburu WRX STi, but I don't think I'll be able to swing that in my budget even with the heavy downpayment I have available.
Anyway, I saw your thread and remembered that site.

I've always liked Pontiac's approach from a design standpoint, but my 1999 Grand Am GT was a maintenance experience and a half.

As is my '98 Malibu. Like I said, I'm having fun cutting my teeth on it, but my Saturn was maintenance free to 108,000 miles when I sold it. On the other hand, the Malibu has had me working on it since the 23,000 mile mark when I had to have the break pads replaced and the AC on/switch and first two stage air control fixed. I've been pulling things off of it and I can tell that GM really cheaped out. I'm not even going to bother listing all of the crap I've had to fix/replace. I'm not sure if GM has improved this car with the new model. I'm leary to plunk down good coin for a GM product again.

Now now.....you can't hate on ALL GM lines. Apparently most of the GMC line is pretty good and has good quality control issues across the board. If I were to buy an American SUV, I'd seriously look at a GMC.

I don't hate GM products, but given my past experience, you can understand my hesitatioin to buy one. Hell, my Saturn was technically a GM product. With the exception of it being woefully underpowered, I loved that car.
I have no desire to own and SUV. None. Owning a truck is great if you work in a trade of some sore. But 99% of my use is pure transportation. Owning a truck or SUV would be a waste of money for me.

Can't say I've been excited by anything Pontiac has put out in the last 30 years or so, but I am a fan of the vintage stuff - 60's GTOs, Bonnevilles, etc.
My father had a '69 LeMans (new) that he optioned up to nearly a GTO (short the engine) because my mother forbid him to actually buy a GTO. I was only 3 at the time, but I vividly remember running up and down the road in front of the Pontiac dealer in the GTO during a test drive, with my mother screaming SLOW DOWN!! the whole time. :D No matter - he still ran up something like six speeding tickets in two months, my first brother was born, we moved to Indiana, and he had to get a station wagon, all within a year. Naturally, he got the biggest engine he could fit in a Chrysler Town & Country, which I believe was the 440.
