Support the Toronto Maple Leafs if you enjoy depression, nausea, tears, pain and suffering, incompetant management, and a great winning tradition. I mean we are the greatest hockey team this world has ever seen. And all you Habs fans can go on and on about your 25 Stanley Cups, but us Leafs have the head-to-head advantage in the finals. We've beaten you guys in the finals 3 outta the 5 times we've played you!

And the Wild re-sign Bouchard. Only Derek Boogaard left now...

Boogaard re-signs, as does Kurtis Foster.

Off-season complete.

Congrats, maybe you'll retain 7th in the West. You must be thrilled.

Funny.

The key for us is keeping Gaborik healthy (easier said than done). If we do that we are one of the best teams in the league. If we get 70+ games from him, I expect us in the top 3 in the West. Not to mention the shootout rule really helps us, even though I despise it.

Not really but to be honest if you watch hockey the main reason is because of the entertainment value of them beating the shit out of each other with their sticks.:D

As opposed to cricket where there is no beating with sticks and no contact... It's even more boring than baseball...

But this is the hockey thread... so I have to admit that I like to play it way more than to watch it these days. I mostly show up for the big international tournaments or the swedish play-offs if my team is in them...

I used to love Hockey and was a big Capitals fan. But, then Jagr came...and the strike.

I still will watch an odd game or two, but I don't follow the team nor buy the videogame anymore.

Ovechkin doesn't excite you?

I used to love the NHL and as a Europeean and an attacking player myself I'd ahve thought that the new rules would be just what I'd need... But I miss the heart in hockey. The players move around too much. If a player is out of form, you trade him. There's no long term thinking.. well there is but not enough.

It's the same in Sweden, even though we have a good league we Can't build long term because if you have a good season you loose 4-5 players to the NHL.

I know that you have a hockey league.. probably never heard of the steelers though. But to be frank, the EIHL is not a very good league. Physical but not very much skill. You should watch the World Championships the next time you manage to get into the top tier. Last time was 1994 ;)
