It's just too bad that the franchise wouldn't be the Bulldogs. Hamilton is supposed to be the home of the Bulldogs. It will still be i suppose but it wouldn't be the same.

It is the home of the Bulldogs, but throughout the entire playoffs they didn't manage to sell out once, except for I think the final game where they won it all. So really, it wouldn't be much of a difference to them.

I can't believe the Sabres let both Drury and Briere get away. I figured they'd lose one, but not both.
I kind of thought Drury would end up in Colorado but obviously it didn't work out for whatever reason. I'm excited to get Ryan Smyth though as well as Scott Hannan, who will help what at times was a porous Avs defense.
Having said that, I think Drury may have really wanted to go to San Jose, but the big contract extension the Sharks gave Thornton financially took them out of the running.
I can't believe Briere's deal in Philly -- eight years and a no-trade clause.

Hopefully this is a new beginning for the Flyers.. It's been a painful season... Just get some defenders who can skate in now...

I think the Flyers were the biggest winners on Opening Day of Free Agent Frenzy. Homer has skillfully put some intriguing pieces together, I would think they'd challenge in the East. Other winners: Rangers, Washington and the Avs. Ryan Smyth basically replaces Brett McLean at LW, I'd take that trade-off any day. Hannan gives us the big defensive defenseman we haven't had since Adam Foote left. I'd think the Avs would look for one more D-man with the cash they have left.
Big Losers: Islanders, Sabres and Devils.
Right now, I think I'd go so far as to say the NHL is now almost the way it was before the lockout and salary cap -- there are haves and have-nots.

Impressed by the Rangers.
The Sabres and Islanders have some work to do to make up for what they lost, though.
As far as my Wild go, we re-signed Koivu and Skoula and dealt Fernandez. So far, so good. Don't really need to do anything in the market, imo. Keep the team together for another season and make sure Gaborik is fit for 70+ games. If that is done, we are a top two or three team in the West, no joke.

Has Junior Lessard gotten any serious minutes with the Stars? All I've heard of him is minor league time. He won the Hobey at my school (UMD) when I was a freshman and he was a senior.
EDIT: Apparently Boogaard and Bouchard are both on the free agent list. If both of them are not re-signed I will be furious.

And, Scott Gomez can f&ck off along with Bobby Holik. Who goes from the Devils to the Rangers? It's absolute trash.
I go to school in Buffalo and I can't wait to go back and NOT have to see a ton of Buffalo Slugs jerseys on, since, well, all of the jerseys had Briere or Drury on the back. Looks like 98% of Buffalo will stop watching the Sabres again. :) But really, as much as I hate the Sabres, Briere is fun to watch, but he's a sellout. Taking up a fifth of Philly's salary this year, I hope he doesn't think they're going to really achieve anything. Hell, look at Jagr at the Caps back in the day, and that was before the cap.
As for Drury, I never liked him as an Avalanche player, definitely didn't like him as a Sabre.
The Devils need to rebuff their team if we want to push for the playoffs this year. We can't depend too much on our youth, and it's not like we haven't already started tapping into them, with guys like Zajac and Clarkson already somewhat "in the team". I figure that this will be Brodeur's last season, unless we get some good defensemen in, because our defense looks like it's going to leak goals like crazy. I'd like to pick up Phaneuf somehow but that's never going to happen.
Some of the notable free agents still available...
Sheldon Souray, Mike Peca, Bill Guerin, Mike Comrie, Brendan Shanahan, Peter Forsberg, Dainius Zubrus...

I do not really watch hockey but I used to play it. Once I was wacked in the throat with a hockey stick. I do not recommend it for a sore throat cure.:D The agony:mad:
In terms of watching hockey it is not really on TV in Britain unlike horse racing, football and golf etc. Therefore my knowledge of hockey teams is zilch.

Yes! The Devils have signed free agent Dainius Zubrus, formerly of the Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals before that. Up front that is what we needed, a big forward to help us not get dominated due to our small size up front (Gionta, Brylin, Parise, among others) and lack of an always starting enforcer up front. Now what we need is a strong defenseman and probably a fourth line center or something.

After footie it's the best sport in the world, imo. The skill, speed, the roughness. The only sport where you really have to stand up for yourself (or have some tougher guy do it :D ) if you want to accomplish anything. The NHL is being ruined by Bettman, but I'll still watch cause there is nothing like Gaborik skinning a defender for a goal and Boogaard highlight reeling some wannabe goon.
If you look for a team to support stick to a Canuck team or a US team in the North/Northeast.

To be frank I have never really heard of the 'flyers' but if you are interested and have large biceps Rugby is a more masculine and better version of the NFL.
I support these:p
