Nice article! Man I love this quote about Ivanov.
Ray Hudson said
I honestly believe he’s capable of being the best defender in the league, maybe even in the history of the league
An allocation for a Carlos Bocanegra type ... hell yeah I'd do it! If he's half as good as Hudson claims, then he should be another Reyes. w0w!
I was surprised to read that he cannot speak English. While Hudson doesn't think that's a problem, I can forsee some difficulties. But, Agoos managed just fine for the USMNT organizing a Frenchman (Regis) and Columbian (Llamosa), so he should do OK.

Hudson: "We’ll be soulful and exciting, you can count on it"
nice.

Thanks for reading it. I've already got at least 2 quotes from Ray today that will probably be in my "end-of-year" best of... The best thing is that the guy's funny even when he isn't trying to be.
There was a genuine feeling of excitement as well in the room today as well. Everyone was smiling. Looks like it's going to be a fun season.

Like Ivanov won't pick up enough English to get by fast, especially with Hristo the translator.

rippin' good yarn!
Good lord, a Hummer? Well, I guess while he's sitting in DC metro traffic he might as well be comfortable.
Good article Mark!

Shouldn't be that big of a deal. They do it in hockey all the time. And Hristo will help him along.
Plus they've got lot's of languages in those various European leagues.

I can't believe nobody's made a Beavisesque comment yet.

i find it hard to believe a guy in his late 20s with only 5 caps for a now-crap side like bulgaria is likely to become the best defender in MLS history. the guy he's replacing wasn't a slouch...
back to the topic, the hummer looks to me like some sort of mid-life crisis vehicle for dudes, what's he gonna do date someone from some gmu sorority next?

Why else do you think he's letting his wife stay in Chicago? :)
