Although physically Etch's game looks very very different than when in his twenties, Etch is still only 31 or so I think, and I doubt he'll retire. Gazza is 35.

Gascoigne given firm notice of level of expectation
PAUL GASCOIGNE is on trial here in Washington DC. His intention is to sign with DC United, the capital’s Major League Soccer side, and he trained with them for the first time yesterday looking unusually lean; not exactly dazzling, but pulling a few tricks, a couple of step-overs, exhibiting the odd glimpse of his fading magic. But if it was solely football ability that they were interested in, the contract would have been sewn up and signed long ago...
