Just got word that there is a group of people that play pickup soccer every sunday at 11 am at the Markward Playground. Its on Taney and Pine Streets right off of 76 near UPenn. They want anyone to show up, regardless of age, gender, ability, etc. I dont think I'll be going this week mainly because the pitch will be a sloppy mess... but I will be there most weekends going forward. They say they get 6 to 14 players every weekend, with the obvious variable being the weather. It would be cool to get an 11v11 game going when it starts to get nicer out. I gotta go dust off my keeper gloves and boots.

I captain a softball team that plays at the fairmount park fields. I know that the soccer leagues usually start up in the fall...

I'm trying to gauge interest for pickup soccer in the Horsham/Willow Grove area. Simmons Elementary School currently has a field set up, and Hatboro-Horsham High School, which is on the same campus as Simmons, has two fields. I am thinking Sunday mornings, but if a group of you have a better time in mind, that's fine. PM me and we'll get a headcount. I have about 5 guys at least that would play so that's a start.

Let me know.

OKtraffic, try asking Simon at the Soccer Post for more people. Maybe he can get a sign-up sheet or flyer going for your pick-up games.

I work at the Soccer Post, so I'll do that. In the meantime, who's interested???

Hi guys. I play with a group of 20- to early 30-somethings, not imposing skill: usually get 10+ each week.

5:30pm Sundays. Fairmount Park by the reservoir: fields on the corner of randolph drive and east reservoir drive.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=randolph+dr+and+east+reservoir+dr,+philadelphia,+pa&spn=0.018754,0.028925&t=k&hl=en

If coming from center city, take Kelly Drive to Fountain Green Drive

>(where the statue of Grant is), and make a right (make a left if

>coming from the East Falls direction). Pass through the stone archway

>and up the hill. Road merges with Reservoir Drive at the top of the

>hill--continue straight to the left on Reservoir Drive. Turn left on

>Randolph Drive, and the fields will be on your right (they are the

>entire space between Reservoir Drive, Randolph Drive, and Edgely Drive

>just north of the East Park Reservoir).

>

>The fields include multiple soccer and baseball fields, including 2

>soccer fields with full-size goals (and grass)!

Yep, our softball league plays on these very fields...Is this a league or just a some pickup action?

I don't suppose anyone knows of any pick-up games in the Wilmington, DE area? Also, are pick-up games generally friendly towards complete newbs? Honestly, I've never played a non-video game of soccer before, but I'd love to give it a go. Are you supposed to wear cleats/shingaurds/cups? I'm really not sure how this whole "playing" thing works in real life.

Not sure if you are just giving us a tug here - but in case you are serious, Banning Park on Maryland Ave has multi-ethnic pickup games in the huge field behind the two real fields and sometimes they play on those fields, though most nights they are County League matches there.

Depending on your age you should be ok...PM with any questions

No tugging here. I just really got into soccer recently with the World Cup stuff and I've been following EPL and MLS since.

Banning Park is really close to my house, thanks! :)

Not sure if you were referring to my post. If so, it's pickup. All welcome.

Well since this thread has recently been resurrected, I'd like to see if anyone knows of any "out-of-shape-friendly" pick-up games/adult leagues in the Montgomery County area. I'm right along the Bucks-Mont line. Let me know.
