Well, to be the best you have to beat the best. Other interesting ties are the repeat of the Worthington Cup tie between Sheffield United and Leeds and Dave Jones returning to Southampton.

Yeah, I'd say that, given the teams involved, this draw pretty much gives us the maximum amount of drama. I'm looking forward to it.

The field at Selhurst park may be the worst for a professional team that I have ever seen. That is horrible.

The most drama sure but the match will most surely be played at an early hour and be on TV. The police shouldn't be listened to. Therefore, this match will be on at a ridiculous time for us in the States. Luckily, I'm not on the West Coast. But still it's stupid. Well, at least the Saints should win. Despite the excellent wins against Newcastle and Leicester, the Wolves very nearly did not beat Rochdale. This is a good year for teams outside the Premiership in the Cup but it still has a long way to match the Coupe de France for having the most teams outside of the top division in the later rounds.

What, three first division teams in the semi-final (not to mention us cheated out of the Cup yesterday). And why not? Southampton have made heavy work of both Millwall and Norwich so far, neither of whom are better or worse than Wolves. Are Southampton the better side? Yup. But they're hardly intimidating. Plus, Wolves generally play better away from Molineux (where the pressure's off), the Dave Jones factor will count for more than something, and if the likes of Ince and Irwin decide they actually want to win, they've got as much experience at this stage of cup competitions as their opponents have.

Watford or Burnley over Fulham? Not impossible. Morale at Fulham is joke that's getting worse by the minute and by the time the quarter finals roll around, they may have no manager and half a team on the way out (judging the number of players out of contract in the summer all of whom have made it clear they'll be following Tigana out of the door). The indifferent -- pathetic -- performance on Sunday was a testament to how much the Frenchmen care (sic). Should they beat Burnley and then Watford? Yup. Will they? Probably, but don't bet your house on it. They won't if they don't play with passion, and they haven't shown a lot of that lately, for sure.

Sheffield United versus Leeds. Well, we've already seen that one this season, and Sheffield United won (in the Worthington Cup). I think, after yesterday, we all know that Leeds are little more than ordinary side (albeit with one or two stars capable of winning a game singlehandedly). Will Leeds be favoured? Yup. Are they racing certainties? Hardly.

Which, of course, leaves Arsenal (it doesn't really matter, with all due respect to Chelsea, who they're playing) as they've already -- as long as they want to -- won the cup.

Predictions: Arsenal, Leeds, Wolves, and Burnley to go through.

I can't believe it. 5:15 local time for the Arsenal-Chelsea match. Bravo to them.

Welcome to the wild and wacky world of English football where television makes the decisions, financial incompetence goes unpenalised (broke? hell, go into administration and kiss goodbye to your debts...nothing wrong with that), and supporters cheer chairmen who leads their clubs into ruin, then point the finger at them when ruin arrives. A game run by idiots, supported by idiots, played by idiots, and funded by the only people who really know what's going on. Is it any wonder that Sky calls the tune?

ehe. Selhurst Park is a dump though. They had these sparklers on the pitch as well..... their idea of a pytechnic show i think. Also they had a couple things like looked like paintcans that shot confetti a couple feet in the air. Those were all those colour splotches on the pitch if you remember.

It was comical.

Read somewhere that the Arsenal-Chelsea match will be going to 5:15 local time so that's good news. Also I believe the Saints v Wolves will be the 4:05 match on Sunday so hopefully the ppv people will show that instead of the earlier match on Sunday.

Well syd, you may be right--probably are in fact, but ya never know.Pity it wasn't at the Bridge though as the ********** just have this thing over us at the library.

But still, what year was it they were hot favourires to win the thing and they were dumped on their duff at home by Leicester, was it '99 or '00.Think it was '00 because Manure had effed off to SA for that stupid FIFA club thingy and they were supposed to cake walk it.

It was 2000. I think it was two 0-0 games before Leicester won on penalties.

I'm not a Burnley supporter. I don't hate them but it was nice of them to have a little piece on their website talking about fans in the U.S. and how they can see the game tomorrow. On FSW, of course, but it was great of an English team especially not one of big boys, to think of those fans around the world right on the homepage. Anyway, here's the link:

That article is from an unofficial Burnley site.

I'll try my best to check it out, as I may hear from someone who will be at Turf Moor for that one.

Burnley 3 : 0 Fulham

Burnley's win assures a spot in the semifinals for a First Division team.
