I know theres a thread about this posted in the Premiership section but not all of us travel over there (I rarely do) and I thought since he's a former player and all it should be talked about here.

Would anyone want him back at Old Trafford?

I'd take the pre-Posh Becks back.

The old Becks? Sure. The Becks who could hardly care less about his club and is more worried about his worldwide popularity and kissing up to "lead" England to glory? Not so much.

Hard to say which one would come back to Man U though... he's still a tad bit better than Darren. ;)

By creating this thread you have just proved to have no knowledge of Beckham at all. Of course we don't want that image conscious prick back at the club. We should have sold him years earlier, as opposed to putting up with his sub-standard shite for so long. Solskjaer is miles better than Beckham.

im afraid to say that beckham has been crap for club and country since he left man utd. he is also a massive pressure on the dressing room, bringing a lot of baggage with him. this is one of the reasons why bayern said they would nevr consider taking him, they have learnt many years ago the problems that too much celebrity can bring to a squad. also he wouldnt accept a right wing position, and he clearly doesnt have the legs for 90 mins in an epl central midfield.
we should be, and thank god are, looking at much younger options who can provide a future to the club, not looking back to rekindle old glories with ex legends. personally , i would love to see cantona wearing number 7 again for man utd, but i know that it wouldnt do the team much good.

Well, I don't know that we would never take back a player who went off to Spain...

To say that Beckham has been poor since leaving Manchester is to say that you don't pay anya ttention to the Spanish League. Beckham has at times been Madrid's most effective player. He still does some things better than anybody else.
Having him back here, however, is not the best thing. The club moved on and so has he. Bringing him back wouldn't serve the club for anything but a brief short period of time. Not what we need right now.

Very true, Just because Becks left doesn't mean he is shite now. Funny how hypocritical most of you Man U supporters are. In love with someone until they leave the club. He was an integral part of the treble side and is still one of the best right wingers in the world. Not to mention set piece men as well. He has been very good this season at Real once they have put him back outside. He has probably the best crossing ability of anyone in soccer history (arguable)

It's funny how "knowledgeable" posters come out of the woodwork when their pet issue is being discussed. How about we stipulate the Beckham was a god for United and is still a god for Madrid? That should make them go away.

His final two seasons at United were average at best, and he didn't do all that well in his first two seasons at Madrid either. He's recovered some form lately, as has the rest of the Madrid team, but I wouldn't give up Ronaldo's development to have him back. He was a great player, and I think the majority of fans were sad to see him go, but the Becks that played from 95-2001 was different from the popstar, international icon David Beckham.

I'm one of those people who appreciated his contributions to United when he was here... up to his last season and a half when he became more of a distraction off the pitch, than an asset on the pitch.
He, at times, put other concerns above United, and had his head turned to Spain when they came calling. The fall-out with Fergie was crucial in his leaving, and there was always only going to be one man left standing at MUFC.
He's showed some flashes of what made him a great player for us this year... but this came after a long patch of indifferent form for Real and England, which could be linked to him playing out of his natural position for club, even though he has been convinced in his own mind for years that he's better played centrally.
Yeah, he was always going to be class at set pieces, and they are valuable, but playing 90 minutes and relying on 2 or 3 instances of where a set piece can make a difference in the match, doesn't make up for the lack of many other facets that he has lacked until recently.

while most of the cross-field balls aren't much more than showing off, he's really done well at Madrid this season in terms of creating goals. He's still the world's best crosser... I'd sanction a move back to OT if he would teach Ronaldo how to cross like that... he doesn't even have to play.
