Is anyone going to watch it? I'm mildly interested, so I might flip to it every now and then.

My favorite part is really reading the diary they have in the Onion.

One is kinda forced to watch it. I'm more interested in Liverpool's game. I am pulling for Pittsburgh. Reminds me of LFC. Crap in the 50's and 60's, and great in the 70's and 80's. Working class city with a real culture.

I'll definitely watch.

Like LB, I'm doing the football/football double-header.

Watching LFC/Chelski at my brother's, and then it's over to a friend's house later that afternoon for his Super Bowl party.

I don't really have a rooting interest. I'd like to see Alexender play well since he's a Kentucky boy. Other than that, I guess you can put me in the "I just want to see a good game" camp.

Actually brought a tear of pride to my eye. I haven't watched NFL at all this year but fo the first half of Colts/Steelers and 1st Qtr of Buckeyes/Irish. Frankly after watching it my whole life, it got realyl boring. Plus the fans don't know shit about the game either.

I used to watch a lot of football but now I can't say I watch a full game a year.
Three and a half hours for 60 minutes of play, interspaced with Experts (who used to play and by some sort of skewed Groundhog Day system, get better with every year away from the game) Telling you in strident voices "How they should have ran that play." :theisman:
And a shit pot full of meaningless adverts.
Since the "recent" event of FOOTBALL/soccer being aired, I've given up on the game of pointy ball.

But not the excuse for a good party...!!!

Not exactly a good day all around today. They took away a TD of ours that was good. They gave one to them that never was and gave a few penalties for them that never were.

They say it balances out but how many times do you go to the Superbowl to get that balance.

In the words of the prophet..Oh well!

Seattle got screwed on a number of huge calls.

There was the phantom offensive pass interence call that negated a TD.
Then they gave Big Ben the TD when in no way did the ball break the plane.
Next was the phantom holding call on the pass play that would have given Seattle the ball on the two-yard line.
And it was all topped off with the personal foul on Hasselback for his tackle on the guy returning the interception.

Would have been a much more exciting game had Seattle not got screwed.

My sentiments exactly. Sorry for your loss but I was pulling for the Steelers.

Normally I would have, but I can't find any redeeming qualities about...

Bettis [who talks incessantly and hardly plays]
Porter [who keeps trying to find reasons to irritate people]
CB's [I don't know there names, that is how mediocre they are. But they sure can stand over every receiver after the ball is thrown no where near them.]

The list goes on...

Exactly! These calls took the heart and Seattle out of the game. The officials [for one reason or another] decided who was going to win this one. Not the Steelers. They were stymied, their bench and fans were stunned but it was still going to be a game to the end.

I can't look at their coach and not shudder with that brown drool in the corner of his mouth. (not saying he's not a good coach)

What a dreadfully boring game. The pass interference call on Jackson was a total joke. I was pulling for the Steelers, but c'mon...

I think the Roethlisberger TD was the right call. Any part of the ball can touch any part of the white line (which designates the plane of the endzone) and it counts as a score. It was controversial, but I felt the ruling should not have been overturned by the replay.

If the food at the party that I was at hadn't been so good it would have been a complete waste of 4 hours.

I'm glad teh city of Pittsburgh, Cowher and Polumalu got rings. And Bettis deserves one as well.

Seahawks got gypped big time.

Their field goal kicker is an idiot for missing those 2 kicks and they had tonnes of calls go against them. Steeler QB touchdown wasnt in (IMO) and that seahawk dude that was called back for pass interference did nothing wrong.

I dont really care, but i'd be pissed if i was a seahawks fan.

I was working on my second bottle of wine by the time the game started, but I vaguely remember the refs being pretty incompetent and the game just being as boring as all get out. I'm a Cowboys fan, so I couldn't make myself root for the Steelers.

I really can't watch football anymore, unless it's Cowboys/Redskins or Cowboys/Eagles. I just can't care like I used to. The sheer commercialism, showboating, marketing and lack of class shown by everybody involved has just reached a point to where it's hard to stomach it now and get emotionally involved.

And yes, I'm aware of the irony that this is coming from a Cowboys fan. :D

I can see where the pro game loses people. College football is a much more fan-friendly game, IMO. The playoffs, in particular, were atrocious this year. The regular season had lots of exciting games.

Now, did any of you pointy-ball haters catch the Rose Bowl? That was a game!

That doesn't neccesarily make him an idiot. Just a poor kicker really. Although in my experience, it's pretty difficult to get a ball over the uprights, even if you're only ten yards away.
