Good article in tomorrow's Arts & Leisure section on FSW, BigSoccer is mentioned and Bill Archer quoted. I took a look but I don't think it's up on their site yet.

Saw a promo on FSW today saying they're one of the 10 fastest growing cable channels in America or something like that.

I hope that "growing" means in ad revenue.

Wasn't there a phrase in their about "most requested cable channel" or something?

I hope they're cleaning up on that hand-held sewing kit. That's getting to be almost as tiring as Ener-X.

I don't know how much more strength or stamina I can take.

My guess would be "growing" would mean in number of homes and/or viewership. But that would also mean ad revenue if they're doing they're job.

FSW is expanding its programming allowing increased ad revenue targeting specific areas of the bod . . . I mean demographic :)

It's actually in the Sunday (1/26) edition of the NYT some sections of which are delivered to homes on Saturday. The article "Sorry, Honey, but Today's Soccer Sunday" will be up on Sunday. So you and me, we get to read it a day early. :)

Look for the marvelous Bill Archer quote.

Re FSW, the first paragraph is my story too:
"Some people want their MTV. I've now got six MTV's, but the only reason I upgraded to digital cable was to get Fox Sports world, Channel 142 on my system in Northern New Jersey. ..."

When the guy from the cable company called at 6:30 pm and said that they were offering digital cable I nearly hung up. Telemarketers! But then he uttered the magic words "Fox Sports World" and I booked the first available installation date. I could not get it fast enough. I even told him that FSW was the only reason I went digital. I can only assume this kind of information gets back to the boys in the suits.

Plus, posting a whole article violates copyright and against the TOS. <end nerdy voice>

Sounds like a good article. Will someone post a link when it becomes available? Just the link (not the article).

Has anyone tried that dent remover thing? I would be tempted to buy it, if it wasn't for the annoying voice of the guy selling it.

Discussing FSW is always a very discreet topic.

Cool article - thanks Jack Bell. Everyone should take the time and write the NYTimes thanking them for the work Jack Bell does covering soccer. I always thought the NYTimes should do a BigSoccer article -- and this comes close to what I was thinking about.

Great column. And he even mentioned Comcrap.

Hopefully that article gets called to someone's attention there who can influence whether FSW can at least be offered in all those markets where they seem to think no demand exists.
