Something I've been thinking about since Sol Campbell's recent horror showings is that if the WC started next week he would not even be in the squad. Almost incomprehensible for 2time all-star member of WC xi's.

It led to the idea for this thread. What I would like to see is a monthly update of the best possible xi for your country based solely on form i.e based totally on the merit of current performance and not on established reputations!!

So on form for January who would be your nation's best XI ? It would be great if we can keep this rolling up until the WC and then see how many of the form players make it over established players who have been off colour for almost the entire season.

Wow, this is almost like a hidden forum. First time ever I check it.

Germany, most players are in miserable shape, I will find it hard to come up with 11 players. :( Especially in the central defence, Mertesacker is injured, Metzelder and Huth sit on the bench!

Kahn - Lahm, Friedrich, Brzenska, Jansen - Schneider, Ballack, Meier, Trochowski - Thurk, Kiessling.

Terry's in dreadful form at the minute.

He was poor yesterday, arguably at fault for all 3 goals, but other than that he has been good recently.

I'd play Luke Young ahead of Neville at the mo. Gerrard on the right and Darren Bent instead of either of those forwards.

Peter Crouch doesn't have a goal or assist in 2006 either.

Bent was superb against Liverpool, didn't do much against us, Young was the same.

Beckham has been in good form for Madrid recently, he's been good all season TBH.

Funny that people pick out Neville, Beckham and Crouch and no one says anything about Marlon King.

It's really good to see Tony Hibbert get some credit.

This is judged by current form. Aside from other questionable picks, how does Cole get the left-back spot when he hasn't even played due to injury?

Hes expected back sooner than later, and with his class will automatically slot in the left back position. Quite possibly one of, if not Englands most consistent performer from 2002 onwards.
Arent we judging on current form anyway? What else are we meant to do... become psychics?

1. Thompson will not start, hasnt even played for PSV yet.
2. Australia only plays one striker, with two attacking wingers, which definately will be Kewell and Culina
3. Back 3, hopefully with Moore fit, doubtful to include Milicevic.
4. Chippers will definately be starting due to his ability to now play left wing back.

The thread is specifically for players who are performing right now (or at least in the past month) and are not injured. So just use any active English LB who is playing well in your estimation. :)
