A little off topic, but I wanted to post this here since most of the people who post in this forum live in or around DC.
Joe says Friday nights are usually slow so there will be some subbuteo table soccer set up at Summer's tonight.
Anyone is welcome to come on by. Just look for the big tables that look like soccer pitches.
Hope to see you there. PM me with any questions.

I just got back from the Summer's Subbuteo Tourney. It was great fun, the first time I've played in a decade at least. There were 5-6 guys there, all of whom were way better than me. My skills were a little rusty...OK a LOT rusty. But I had a great time. I think they plan to do a monthly thing at Summer's. Definitely worth coming to next time.

How many teams (subbuteo squads) did they have to choose from?
When I was a kid I had three teams: Anderlecht, Estudiantes, and Inter Milan.

One of these days, I'm going to dig out the photos of the Beer-Subbuteo matches we played in college.

Last night was a lot of fun, a few folks from the local league, the WTSL, were there as well as some new folks and curious onlookers. Thanks to Joe for letting us do that, with tables set up from about 8:30 p.m. to about the closing bell at 1 a.m.
Several different teams were put to use last night .. including (I won't remember them all) Inter Milan, Croatia, Rangers, Argentina, University of Virginia and a couple others I can't remember offhand. If you go all the way back through the game's history, there are some 600 or 700 squads that were produced, so some of the big teams like your Man Uniteds and Liverpools have multiple "sets" that represent them.
Thanks again to Summers and all those who showed up, hopefully we can do that again soon. Anyone interested in the WTSL or who wants to more about last night can email: manunited99@yahoo.com

umm...no...and there are no hobgoblins or wizards either ;)
Anyway, Summer's was fun. Hopefully next there will be at least one full-size pitch set up so people can really see what it's all about.
