Whats the weather going to be like in the next month or so (a prediction about temperature that is) in London, Barcelona (I assume hot), Cork, Dublin, Edinburgh, and Manchester? Do I need to pack some jeans?

Pack jeans, sweaters, rain gear... more rain gear.
Seriously, I've been there in July and I think it was around 50F. Even experienced travel nerd Rick Steves says to pack for any kind of weather in Britain.

Off to Chicago tomorrow!!! Stayin at the Omni and reservations for dinner at Cite on Sunday are all set. Can of you Chicago folk comment on Cite? The AAA book gave it some good reviews.
Gotta try and convince the g/f that the Sears tower is perfectly safe cuz I really want to go. Also wil have to meet up with Achtung, and buy him a pint or 2.
Only problem is that it appears that it might rain a bit. Oh well, it will still be a good trip.

If you have the time the Chicago Chophouse is a damn good steak house.. Been there both times I was in Chicago...Good food and a killer wine list... Might be a bit heavy for the g/f depending on her eating habits ...;)

Off across the pond I go, see you guys in a while. If anyone in the area is interested in meeting up for a game or whatnot send me an email, I *think* you can get that in the profile.

Glad you guys had a good time and managed to mostly avoid the rain. :)
In retrospect though, sticking to the pints (of beer) might have been a better idea. Ah well, live and learn. :D

Well I'm glad you were able to make it home safely. And yes, trying to keep up with Ray and his drinking skill is not a recommended activity.
The trip to Chicago was great! For those who haven't gone, you must go, it was an absolutely wonderful city.
Day 1
We landed on Saturday, late morning, checked in at the Omni, and then walked around a bit. We passed the Contemporary Museum of Art and thought we might go in to check it out. BIG MISTAKE. I'm not sure if I missed a day of school somewhere, but some of the shit there was NOT art. They were featuring an artist, and I use that term loosely, who took pictures of wierd things, a guy giving a BJ, himself peeing on a chair, and other stuff that really bothered me. The one redeeming quality was that there were a few works of art by Andy Warhol, and I do like him.
For dinner we went to Smith and Wolensky's, cuz it was right on the river and cuz they have great food. I topped off the evening with a nice Romeo y Julieta.
Day 2
Sunday morning came and so did the humidity. Ray doesn't like humidity. Ray doesn't like it at all. So after a overly priced room service breakfast, we headed over the the air conditioned Art Institute of Chicago, which was a much better choice over the previous museum. Beautiful works of art by Monet, Hopper, Cezanne, Picasso, Dali, and van Gogh, just to name a few.
Dinner on sunday was at Cite, which is at the top of the Lake Point towers. It was a beautiful view, unfortunately the building's AC died a few hours prior. We decided to stay, and sit in front of the portable AC unit they brought in. The food was excellent, but we pretty much scarfed it down and exited stage left.
We headed over to the Navy Pier afterwards, which was really nice, since there was a cool breeze coming off the water. We walked around there for a bit and then headed back to the hotel for some more drinks.
Day 3
After a nice breakfast we went on a cruise around the river, which was beautiful and gave us some nice views of the city. Directly after we headed back to the hotel for the in-room massage. Trust me, after walkin around Chicago as much as we had, those massages were heaven sent.
We then hooked up with Achtung at the lounge on the 96th floor of the Hancock tower. After a few drinks there we went over to Le Colonial, which was a Thai/French fusion place. Excellent food there as well. Afterwards, Andrea and I went on a horse and carriage ride. I've never done that before, so it was actually kinda cool.
Day 4
Last day there, pretty much had time to pack, pick up a martini glass at the airport and get on the plane.
All in all, an excellent trip, and one I'll definately take again. :D
