You'll be lucky in Northumberland.
They'll either luck like a horses arse or expect you to have enough money to buy a horses arse.....and the rest of it.

What about Cork? Is there much of interest there in terms of tourist stuff? I'm sure there are pubs and etc. of course.

I'm not sure if you'll be on the west coast of Ireland at all but if so make sure to try and see the Cliffs of Moher(sp?) .. They are one of the most beautiful natural formations I've seen... Also up that way Galway is a pretty cool city to spend a day or 3 in....

I'm facing a dilemma. I've got 7 full days for Berlin and Prague. How do you think would be the best way to spend them? 5 days for Berlin and 2 for Prague? 4 and 3? 3 and 4? I know that Berlin is twice as large, does it mean there are twice as many fun places to visit?

I absolutely love Galway - it's such a laid-back place...it seems to continually have a happy vibe. And there's always plenty of street entertainment and impromptu sessions. If any of you are travelling in Ireland and are looking for something a bit different from seeing various cities, the west of the country is great for smaller, more traditional towns & villages. If scenery's your thing you could do worse than come to Donegal - some breathtaking mountains, cliffs, parks & beaches (the beach I lifeguarded on summer before last - Portsalon - was apparently voted the second-best beach in the world by some tourist survey, as I heard a few times over the summer from English/American visitors). And of course, the rural pubs are by far the best craic :D
Re: the French - as far as I've found their reputation for unfriendliness is entirely undeserved. If you make any sort of effort to speak the language (which is an entirely reasonable expectation) they'll go out of their way to help you. I also discovered while in Paris that their health system is top-class :o

Ok, London to Manchester, and Manchester to Edinburgh. Train? Bus? Cheap flight?

Train might be the most flexible way. Depending on how long you'l be there, look into getting a BritRail pass. If you're at college, you probably have either an STA Travel or Council Travel office nearby, and they can help with that.

whats there to do in amsterdam except prostitutes and to toke up legalyModern Art museum is killer. Van Gogh museum. Drink some real coffee for the first time in your life. Eat mussels and pancakes and Indian or Indonesian cuisine. Go on a canal tour.
Take the tram or rent a bike and travel away from the touristy areas and walk around and talk to people; ask them what to do -- Pound for pound, Dutchies were the kindest, sweetest, and most helpful (and sexiest--that never hurts :D ) people I ran into in my Euro-tripping. I even randomly met a retired professor of architecture who took me around the city for several hours talking about it's buildings and history. If you go there and keep an open mind, there's lots to do.
Go ask on the Netherlands BS board, too. There used to be a thread called "Teach me about the Dutch" or something. They're very friendly and lots of Amsterdammers on that board too.

Read this if you can, not just for an insight into Dutch football but their culture in general.
