Italy there are definatelly some mean fellas, however, like everyone there are nice people. It's funny, because Americans tend to think of the French as rude and don't have that stereotype of Italians. My experience was that people in France were lovely, and people in Milan would rather spit on you than smile at you. I was really shocked at how I was treated in Milan. (Like you said however, people are people, and they're jerks and nice folks everywhere).

Dublin - Jameson Distillery. if you like whiskey, go here. it shows how they make it. as soon as you hear the guide ask for a brave soul or something like that raise your hand. only 4 people get picked. at the end of the tour when everyone gets 1 free shot of whiskey, you get SEVEN. i think the admission might be 15 euros.
When i was there I had 20 minutes until the tour and the bartender in the lobby ( hot italian girl a town away from where I do business) was giving me free tastes of I forgot the name of the whiskey but it was like 18 euro a glass.... Well she told me the second they ask for volunteers I should jump up immediately... Unfortunately since I had just travelled from America hit the Guinness factory for my welcome to Dublin pint and hit 2 pubs for Guinness and whiskey that day I was a bit slow getting up and wasn't picked..:(

I have heard that quite a bit, although I haven't personally had any problems either in Milan or Rome. Quite surprising considering all of the Italian people I know are friendly enough guys. Then again, it is physically impossible to hate a Scot and there are links between our countries.

Toon2, really? Heard it was supposed to be good and relaxing, we figured maybe that we would need a break after doing the London thing. Is that not suggested generally from Englanders?
It's great the rest of the year but during the summer it is aweful. Accomdation prices go through the roof because it's only small B&B's, traffic is aweful, old people everywhere and just generally a place to avoid.
If you want somewhere to relax go somewhere in Northumberland, it's just as pretty, less pricey and no one goes there. Plus your only about an hour from Newcastle that has good links to the rest of the country unlike Carlisle which is an evil little place.

about an hour from Newcastle
Apart from the Metro Centre, why the hell does Newcastle exist? :p
Although I have friends who stay in the Lake District, I agree with Toon. You would be much better going somewhere quieter or just heading straight up to Scotland and either go up north or to a loch for some R&R.

Watch the british stag parties get ripped off on Las Ramblas, figure our the underground, the gaudi garden, the gardens around the Olympic stadium and the Nou Camp of course.

I have read that that park is less crowded mostly. Are there hostels in the area. I assume you haven't stayed at any because your from Newcastle I assume, but maybe you still know of some.

If you've ever been to the Metro Centre you will be asking why did they build it? It's my personal hell on earth.

There are quite a few hostels in the Lakes but like the B&B's they all fill up quick and are overpriced.
There is a hostel in Newcastle and I know exactly where it is. Pretty good location and it's about $33 a night which is pretty good for a city centre hostel in the UK. During the summer both of the universities let out their halls for a little less.
When I went around europe I booked most of my hostels though This Lot (http://www.hostels.com/en/index.html) and they are really good.

Amazing isn't it....they claimed it was the "new" metroland because they put a tunnel on it.

I mean in the Northumberland park. Would we be able to stay in there? Or have to get a room in Newcastle?

5k miles and walking around with a big backpack on my back allows me never to have heard of that.

Oh right, yeah there is quite a few. Plus if you can't find one, most pubs have beds or let you kip on their floor.
