Its fair to compare the 2 because they are both the same age and they both have been top strikers throughout their career but the difference is that Pauleta is still at the top of his game now while Vieri is just a shell of his former self. Pauleta is still the top forward in Ligue 1 while Vieri isnt even in the top 10 but to be fair he did just get here. On the national team level Pauleta is still the #1 guy for Portugal while Vieri is way down the pecking order for Italy and may not make the World Cup roster but that might have something to do with Italy being much deeper at the striker position than Portugal is. Looks like Pauleta beats him on both counts, club and national team level.

Maybe Vieri's best days are better than Pauleta's, but now Pauleta perform better than Vieri. Maybe it is difficult for a 32-year-old to keep his mood with Vieri's weight.

If you're looking at both players in their primes, there's little doubt that Vieri was better. Pauleta has maintained his ability much better than Vieri though, and I'd take him in a heartbeat right now.

I hope you are being sarcastic!

Pauleta is a good striker, B class striker and has never been world class.

Vieri right now is a B class striker, but in his prime he was Top 3 striker in the world and simply world class. He was a striker's striker! To top it off, I beleive he has 9 world cup goals to date which is not that shabby either :)

Comparing the two is pretty much a joke, in 20 years time Christian Vieri will be remembered along with Batistuta, Shevchenko, Crespo, etc as the games top strikers during their time.

I was merely comparing their PRESENT forms. In addition to that, you must acknowledge the fact that Christian is now playing in Le Championnat, not in Serie A. In France, he is nothing more than a has-been foreigner.
