Indifferent.

The league's not taking that much risk here. They're paying him approximately a bucket of warm spit from everything I've heard, and neither are they billing him as the second coming of Franz Beckenbauer.

I suspect the only reason he'd ever want to take this job is if he still wanted to play the game out of the harsh spotlight and not be compared so much to what he once was. So he may well go out there and actually try.

But he is old, and the body he's been mistreating so long should soon fail him. He may be one of those players that plays with great skill. . . when he can actually play.

Think of him as Stoichkov without the burning desire to help out the younger players.

Actually, in his first practice on Friday, 'Gazza' thought that was the most exciting thing about being here. DCUnited invited several of the U-20 and U-17 players into training - the National Championships are being held about 20 miles from the stadium. The kids did all the drills and scrimmages along with the professional players. 'Gazza' said something to the effect "this is the way its supposed to be done."

In the post practice press conference 'Gazza' expressed an interest in pursuing a coaching career, particularly youth.

I still can't believe all the Gazza to MLS rumors actually came true.
