Whatever, man....you ever hear of

(picture of fedex airplane)

A guy can dream, can't he?

I like the way you think. I actually asked them if you could do that, and they indeed said, yes you could - if it weren't for US customs limiting the amount of alcohol you can import to something like 50oz.

You might get lucky though ;)

It's probably not cask......but I still haven't had a better pint of Guinness (stateside that is) than when I worked on the Hill and we'd hit Irish Times after work.

Any of you D.C.; Md; NoVa people go there for the Guinness?

Sounds delicious. mmm... why is it only 2:35?

and fyi Guinness isn't served on cask, even in Dublin.

Try to find "Dogfish Head" where you live... that's good stuff too.

http://www.dogfish.com

EDIT: This place in Bellevue has it - http://www.taphousegrill.com/beers.html (http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Guardian/documents/2006/02/02/underground5.pdf)

Yeah, you can actually buy dogfish head in grocery stores here. If you ever goto bellevue (seattle suburb) don't goto that link you sent me :) 160 beers on tap with a clientele that drinks bud light. As such, all the beers sit there wayyyy past their sell by date. It's almost criminal.

If you really like Dogfish, and ever goto portland go here : Horse Brass Pub (http://www.horsebrass.com), they have a contraption there called the 'Randall' (http://www.horsebrass.com/brasstacks.html) that was invented by some dude at Dogfish Head. It's a device that allows them to run beer from the keg -through a cylinder of fresh green hops- to the tap. It's crazy. They usually run Dogfish Head's 90 minute IPA through it. Weekends only.

They pour a nice pint at Irish Times/Dubliner, but the best pint in town IMHO is either at Nanny O'Brien's in Cleveland Park or the Irish Channel near the MCI Center. These also, coincidentally, would be the two best pubs in town, IMHO.:)

Interesting, what does Abramoff drink?

:D
Don't think Abramoff would ever be caught dead in the Channel, though his infamous restaurant was nearby...

I'll have to try those next time I'm in DC. I generally drink @ Fado's when I'm seeing something @ the MCI and the Guinness was great there.

Got back a bit ago from the beer tasting. It was disappointing a bit tonight (though it was 8 for $1 tonight). They had Acme, Carlsberg and one microbrew from San Diego that I can't remember, but every beer is named after a fish. However, to the one who put "La Fin du Monde", I salute you. I haven't picked that up yet, but I picked up two of the other ones.

La Fin du Monde is magnificent, as are all the Unibroue beers. mmmmmmmm. I had two glasses of Maudite last night.

They've started brewing contract brews for Trader Joe's as well, same beer, half the price.

That was me...La Fin Du Monde is absolutely incredible. I cant find words to describe all of the tastes it has. It is jam packed with alcoholic goodness, and you dont even notic it. Tonight, however, I am on the Sierra Nevada Seasonal, Sierra Nevada IPA, and it is DELICIOUS.

I hope it is like the $2 chuck. The best cheap wine around.

Stella has definitely become the "everyday" beer for me.

My parents friends came over this weekend...we got them some Bud Light. What foul nasty stuff that is.

Drank some Victory Hop Wallop and Red Hook E.S.B last night during the Super Bowl. That Hop Wallop packs a punch!

I liked it better when the IPA was just Ballard Bitter. Same beer but that dude on the label was funny.

Red Hook's a local microbrew gone bad. Ballard is the scandihoovian neighborhood of seattle where they started off if you didn't get that already from the slogan. Some years back they moved out to the burbs and signed a distribution deal with the devil, er, I mean Bud.

Yes, La Fin Du Monde is excellent. A lot of the character in Unibroue beers is from the super fruity ester producing yeast they use. I recommend you try them all as they use the same yeast in all their brews giving them all the same undlying flavor characteristics.

the Beer is $5.. (but chuck is $3 here.. so maybe it'll be 4) so it's still not cheap, just half the price it would be if it had the full unibroue markings instead of just the cork. It's a 750ml bottle though (26ish oz) and around 9% abv.

Oh yeah, did I mention it's really good?

The beer seems to be the same, is it not?

Victory just did the same thing. So far, I don't think it's been an issue.

It happened here 12 years ago, it's made a difference over time but Bud also owns a share of the brewery (33.8%).

Found this interestingly relevant comment on the web.

"7 July 04
Bud, Red Hook expand distribution deal.
Critics of Victory Brewing's shift to Penn Distributors in Philadelphia, back when that was the Greatest Issue in the History of Man about, oh, five or six days ago*, often brought up the Budweiser/Red Hook relationship as a case in point for the possible horrors which might ensue."....
