I am looking for some good football/soccer movies, does anyone have any suggestions? I have seen Goal and A Shot For Glory (wrong title?). Are there any worth watching?

Me and MiniLB are prominent in the opening crowd shots, or so I've been told. Never seen it myself.

I haven't clicked on this thread in ages, but I was surprised to see no mention of Apocalypto. IMO, the best film of the year.

Say what you will about Mel Gibson, but the man is a filmmaker to his very core. He knows how to tell an engaging, exciting story, and Apocalypto is just beautiful.

If you've got beef w/ his off-color comments, pay for another movie and walk into Apocalypto. Very good film.

Oh, and I thought The Departed was better than Infernal Affairs (which I saw prior to The Departed). It's a little cartoonish, but a very entertaining film nonetheless. It'll probably get Scorcese his long-deserved Oscar as best director, even though it's not even in his top 5 films. I'm not sure why the Academy waits forever to give a director/actor his Oscar, then gives it to him for a relatively mediocre film, but that's the way it works.

Once in a Lifetime - The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos

My wife ordered this from Netflix for me. I sneered of course....and when she was out one day I popped it in the DVD just to say I looked at it and to give me more ammo for the anti Sawker brigade.

Ya know what..I loved it. Well worth the time. It's a pity these guys who came up with the concept aren't around with the sad MLS.

I'll give it 2 bums up!

Watched "The US vs John Lennon" today. Not bad at all, brought back a lot of memories for me. Meeting John and the boys back in Litherland Town Hall and living in LA in the late 60's and 70's.

A documentary worth watching.

I just watched Babel tonight. An emotional roller coaster, extremely well made.

Recently viewed and recommended:

A State of Mind - Documentary shot in North Korea, very well done. Just shows a different kind of brainwashing

Jesus Camp- Holy shit... a must see movie (I was married to a Southern Baptist minister for over 12 years and it freaked me out)

Happiness, Long life and Prosperity --(or something to that effect) Starring Sandra Oh and a really precocious kid whose name escapes me at the moment. Good flick

the only thing that bothers me is THE ACTORS ARE SO OBVIOUSLY NOT PLAYING THE FIDDLE!!!!!!!!! but besides that it is one of my favs. (maybe because Bernard Hill is my favorite actor ever since my dad made me watch The Boys From The Blackstuff)

Rented Departed this weekend because I hadn't seen it in theaters. Good movie.Yeh, we got it from Netflix after 10 minutes, I was watching alone (My wife gave up on it) and after 2 hours I was getting tired of it and was happy they figured out how to end it.

For 2 hours and 34 minutes of watching DeCrapio smoking and twitching there should be a reward.

It was fairly entertaining but no classic

I think Jesus Camp was filmed like 2-3 hours from my house. We have some creepy religious "camps" in ND. My friends and I used to piss some of them off by firing fireworks and riding our wave runners by their camps. Don't worry I didn't attend the camp.

Yeah. Very true, I find that Decaprio ruins a lot of movies, two that come to mind Gangs of New York and Blood Diamond. HE is a big name, but other actors were better in both of those movies. And his accents suck.
