good time as any to be reminded of Kaiser Soze ;)

does anyone agree with Orson Scott Card (http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/2005-09-30-extra.shtml) that Serenity was the best Sci-Fi movie of 2005? (I do.. and love Serenity and Firefly). Also can't wait for Ender to get madeOn your recomendation I've just ordered Serenity......It's on your head....... :)

It's hard to laugh out loud too unless you've worked in an office. If you have, you know everyone of those characters. In fact, you'll be thinking of them as you watch the movie.

That movie is a wonderful satire of all the reasons I don't sit behind a desk in some cubilcle.

'Grizzly Man' is a fantastic documentary just out on DVD. It's about Timothy Treadwell and his time spent in Alaska living with brown bears on the Katmai Preserve. Directed by the great independent German filmmaker Werner Herzog. Herzog narrates and uses alot of Treadwell's own footage from his thirteen summers in the bush. A captivating character study.

"Grizzly Man" was awesome. I just read about how Herzog was doing an interview for BBC and was shot by some "fan" with an air rifle. The interviewer freaked out but Herzog was cool as a cucumber, and simply said "Oh, we're being shot at". He was bleeding from the leg but refused to stop the interview.

What a badass.

I didn't say everyone..:)
We watch docmentaries also, the latest being.
"The Smartest Guys in the Room" Starring the one and only Ken Lay. (How that guy is still alive, I don't know) and Schilling.

Everyone here should check out The Smartest Guys in the Room. It will shock you. It just blows your mind how outrageous, shrewd and immoral those Enron clowns were. From the top down. It defies logic. If it were a fictional movie you would have said, "No way anyone would be able to do that for so long! Complete hollywood BS!"

Just flew across country and got to see "Good Night and Good Luck". I had two thoughts: first that it was a very good piece of filmaking by of all people George Clooney and second that it is remarkable that a film like this would be shown on a commercial airline flight. David Straithern is exceptional as Edward R. Morrow and the rest of the cast includes many of my favorite actors such as Jeff Daniels, Robert Downey, Jr., Patricia Clarkson, and Frank Langella. Even Mr. Clooney is good! Go see it if you can.

I saw that on the Discovery Channel. Fascinating stuff. Funny and sad at the same time.

It was a good movie, not great, still too much of a western theme to be great sci-fi.
Could have put them on horses and used wagons instead of spaceships.

Not to say I didn't enjoy it though.

LB, "Good Night and Good Luck". is next on our list, looking forwards to it.

Watched "Yesterday" last night. It's a Zulu film about a young mother who finds she has aids.. It's a well really done move.

I wanted to take a hot bath later and cut my wrists...definitely a downer. But it's happening every day in Africa.

To anyone who grew up Catholic and has a dark sense of humor,DOGMA, by Kevin Smith is a must. It will make you laugh. You don't have to be a Catholic, but I think it was funnier to me because of all the cathecism that was forced upon me whan I was a kid.

Check out "The Constant Gardner". It is a commercial film about Africa and multinational corporations. From the John Le Carre novel with Ralph Fiennes and a tremendous performance from Rachel Weitz.

Good choices in "Constant Gardner" and "Murderball". Both were excellent films.

If you haven't seen Fernando Meirelles' (director of "Constant Gardner") first film, "City of God", watch us beat Benfica's ass today, celebrate for an hour or so, then go rent "City of God". One of the best movies of the last 10 years. Absolutely incredible.

Also, the Oscar-nominated short films are available for download at the iTunes store. For $1.99 apiece, it's not a bad deal. "Six Shooter" and "Cashback" are both excellent films (and both from the UK).

City of God....must be a generation thing but it has to be the worst....we'll maybe not the worst film I've ever seen, perhaps second worst..!

Sorry, not for me. 4 thumbs down....
Didn't get to celebrate the Benefica after match either....

"St. Ralph" was a fun film for me and I didn't go to catholic school. If you did you'll enjoy it even more. Good family fun as well.

Saw "Memories of a Killer" the other day. Really good Belgian flick about an aging hit man with the onset of Alzheimers. Being chased by 'le flic'

Not really family fun.. (Tits, [tattooed] arse and murder!) but good.

Wow, I'm curious what you didn't like about the film.

I thought it was ground-breaking cinematography, incredibly well-acted (by non-actors no less), had a really interesting storyline, and was told in a very unique, non-linear fashion. Simply from a structural standpoint I think the film is an amazing achievement. I think you're the first person I've ever heard of who said anything except incredibly things about the film.

Was it all the drugs/violence you didn't like? I think it was truly a landmark film and will go down as a classic.
