I hate to be a downer, but I really feel the need to say something, since no one has mentioned this point: addiction.
I did all my partying in high school, and I ended up getting to and through college and going on to become the fine upstanding person you see before you :)
However, that is absolutely not true for alot of the kids that I ran with in high school -- and I'm not talking about one or two people. Many people either didn't bother applying to college or were so messed up that they didn't make it past a semester or two. I know people now in recovery trying to put their lives back together, people in jail, people with hepatitis or who can't have children, people who have overdosed or killed themselves -- a friend of mine was also severely paralyzed in a drunk driving accident when she was 16. Sorry to be all grave about it, but I hate drugs, seriously hate them, and I recommend that people proceed with caution when they're experimenting. Especially when you're young, and you have everything in front of you. That goes for alcohol too--it's shocking how physically addictive it is (if you are addicted to alcohol, you can easily die in withdrawal; iirc, people are more likely to die from alcohol withdrawal than from heroin withdrawal even). Pot is usually fine; but there will be a kid in your pot-smoking group that abuses prescription drugs, and a kid in the RX group who's messing with cocaine. Smoke your joint on Saturday night or whatever, but don't do it alot and stay away from the serious shit.
That being said, I do know people that occasionally have a joint or a drink or a night of drinking or whatever, and they have perfectly happy lives (I know alot of guys on this forum drink frequently, and they seem ok). As I said before, I partied alot in high school and a little in college too, and I'm just fine. Just be careful, guys; it can be serious business. Please be moderate and encourage your friends to do the same.
And that all goes double for you guys in the OC. I went to private high school where the kids all had their own cars at 16, and enough money and connections to get luxury drugs, and jet-setting parents -- and the problems were alot worse there than at the public high school where my siblings went.

I agree with Saph.
Now that the PSA is over, does anyone have a woman problem? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? What about you, Striker? Still stuck in a Zinn-like slump?

Sapphire raises a good point. Drugs and alcohol are fun, but can be dangerous. I give you 2 anti-drug quotes now.
"I used to do drugs to get high, now I do drugs to feel normal"
"Drugs are there for fun, as soon as they become a job, something you HAVE to do, then it's no longer for fun anymore."
I've always viewed that you yourself need to always be stronger than the drug. If you can turn it down whenever, then you're still doing ok.

Um... why do women insist on leaving the seat down? Shouldn't they be looking before they sit down? Discuss...

Um... why do women insist on leaving the seat down? Shouldn't they be looking before they sit down? Discuss...Why is the seat up to begin with -- is it really THAT much easier to aim at a hole with a 12" diameter than a 10" diameter???

I once almost sat down on the rim when the seat was up. I could only blame myself.
My wife, for some reason, objected to standing urination in general. I couldn't really agrue as I don't want to be the one who cleans the bathroom. Now I have pee like a girl. I'm so emasculated.

I know exactly what you are saying Sapphire. I had what most would call a very good time through high school. I wasn't on a path to anywhere in life at graduation so I joined the Army. That'll straighten you right out. Since getting out I have gone to college off and on over 12 years and I am now about to (finally) graduate. I was talking to a high school friend the other day and we were both shocked as to how many people we knew were now dead. Let me put it this way, you can't count it on both your hands. Not to mention how many are in bad shape. I consider myself about the luckiest of them all. I make good money as a contractor, have a nice house, nice car, great wife and great kids. I can't say the same for any of the people I knew growing up and for some I feel partly responsible. So for you young ones out there, be careful. My mom gave me some advise once that I have used, she didn't do it but it was good advise anyway.
Get your shit done first, then go party.
Simple words from an alcoholic but there true. Oh ya, thanks Saph, now I'll go off and cry. j/k. :)

There's another quote I heard in a movie recently (can't remember which): "It's like dancing with a bear. At first it's fun, but then you get tired ande want tot stop. Problem is, the bear won't stop... and it needs a partner."

Would you prefer we left the seat down and showed you women just how much harder it is for us? ;)

I went yesterday with my sister to her future high school (open-house type of thing), and one of the things the principal talked about was a very strict policy on blogs. If the school finds out about a blog with certain topics discussed (drugs, alcohol, racism, etc.), and finds out that one of their students participated in it, he/she may be expelled.
As far as college - I tried to go to parties or bars only earlty on in the quarter or after the finals. My parents paid for just a small portion of the tuition, so I pretty much had to work starting my sophomore year 20-30 hours/week, and full days during vacations. So I kinda avoided the whole "drinking on Wednesdays" routine. Mostly Fridays and Saturdays. ;)

What would our women think if they knew we peed in the shower?

Dude, you mean she actually checks whether you are standing or sitting? That alone should eb considered a valid reason for filing for divorce.

Put it this way, would u rather put the seat down and have it be dry or have the seat be down and wet. :pIf I peed on the seat, I would wipe it up. Hubby should do the same. Well, logic aside, the reality of the situation is the first time I sit down and my butt touches toilet water, someone's sleeping on the couch.
Like Elaine says, "I don't know how you guys walk around with those things."

She doesn't have to check. The evidence will be there when she goes to clean.
Question: Do you guys do number 1 and number 2 in front of your significant other? Do they?

Hey Saph. When you wear something that accentuates your bosom, are you offended when random people check them out? This never made sense to me.
