Good stuff from Muse. I thought it was going to be hard to get into at first because it sounded like industrial music for some reason. But its actually really catchy (music) and I just kinda listen away without anything going through my mind for some reason as I surfed the net.
I'm now listening to Don't Believe The Truth and for it seems great music.. but not really Oasis for some reason, I'm not sure what it is. I'm sure I'll love it when I listen through a few more times.

DBTT is definitely the best Oasis album since WTSMG. It's more refined and more original than most of their other stuff, partially because the entire band is sharing writing duties, rather than Noel doing 95% of it.

Anybody like these guys?
I loved their first album, and I've been listening to their newest one for the past week. They're unbelievable musicians, in the tradition of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Santana.

I can honestly say that I am not a big fan when it comes to latin themed music. Even Santana. I respect what they do and their influences, but if I hear a song like that on the radio I'll change it.

Same here, I'm not a fan of latin themed music either, but when it comes to this band, it's the Stevie Ray Vaugh/blues sound that's more prevalent.
Just check out this live performance, these guys are incredible musicians.

I haven't heard anything from Los Lonely Boys so I'll be sure to give them a listen. In response to the messages about Kasabian; I ********ing love them. Their music is so energetic and refreshing to hear. Wth their first album they crossed rock with electronica and made it sound brilliant. Songs like I.D, Running Battle, and Club Foot are perfect to listen to at anytime. You can easily hear it at a club and be able to dance to it, you can listen to it at a party, at home by yourself, or just hanging out with friends. They're a very creative band, and smart. I'm looking forward to their new album, Empire is a great single, different from the other stuff but a good single nonetheless. I really want to watch them live as I hear they're amazing.

I find it funny (and aggravating) that people (mtv) respect avril lavigne because she writes her own songs (same with that cvnt stick ashlee simpson). Totally ignoring the fact that her writing could (and does) suck ass. But the fact that she writes her own songs totally means that she should be respected as a musician, despite the fact that she has absolutely no musical talent.
I'm sorry, but I listened to the Bends, Deadwing and Lateralus tonight, I've been surrounded by too much good music for my own good.

It's interesting that you mentioned how Ashley and Avril are respected for writing their own music even though they both suck at it. But honestly, they are the only ones who d othat in the pop world so maybe thats why they gain so much respect and are considered 'good'. I hate Ashley Simpson with a passion tho. And Avril...well the only things she's got going for her is that she's hot and Canadian.

Um, Shakira writes her own music, in English and Spanish. Although I do not fancy her stuff in English, she is a bright little sprocket when it comes to writing in Spanish. She is much more intelligent and articulate than both those females and she looks better.

Shakira is crap. She can't sing. The only thing that does her good is that she turns me on with her dancing.

Her Spanish music is a tier above her English. Although I still enjoy her english music. She did sell out a little though, dying her hair blond just to please mainstream America:rolleyes:

But Shakira still sucks. Along with the previous two I mentioned in my post.

Define crap. Have you heard any of her music in Spanish? I didn't say anything about singing, either. I was talking about songwriting. But still, what defines a good singer to you, and can you name me someone who is a good singer? She still writes better songs than the aforementioned women. If you don't have anything productive to add to the conversation, move along.

A Swedish pop star can be a good writer, but it doesn't mean that they'll be a good musician/singer or have much talent. If Shakira is honestly that great of a songwriter then she should stick to just writing songs because she isn't much of a singer. She's at where she is because she a really attractive woman. Her voice is aweful, really it's horrible.

I have not listened to Spanish music by her and I shouldn't because I am a poor Spanish speaker by the by.
Nonetheless, different people have different opinions on what makes a good singer. But she just has a voice that is not really good to me. I'm pretty sure alot of people would agree. It has nothing to do with the music, but she just cannot sing. Singing ability? Mariah Carey has good ability. So does Dolly Pardon. Along with Whitney Houston and perhaps that American Idol winner girl the name escapes me.

Go back to you original thread on this topic. You were talking about how Ashlee Simpson and Avril Lavigne write their own music, blah, blah, blah. IMO, Shakira is a good songwriter in Spanish and I brought her up because you said that Avril and Ashlee were the only ones in the pop world writing their own songs, which isn't true. Your point about crap is pretty moot. Isn't that what you were signifying, again, in your original post? Also, remind me where I said she was a good singer.
P.S. if you don't believe that being a good songwriter is a talent......
