Ok so i know that i already talked about the muse concert in the happy thread, but no one has responded, sooo.......
if you EVER get a chance to see muse in concert, go see them. on their final song, "knights of cydonia" (from their new album) i swear i was this close to blowing a load. an absolutely fantastic band, who are even better live. fan-********ing-tastic. and their new album is class, btw.
i also have thom yorkes new album, and i have to say, i have really enjoyed it.
it's similar i suppose to some radiohead stuff (kid a, most likely), but it's very much stripped down from their style. very subtle, but very haunting as well. yorkes voice is just, well, just get the album and you'll know. there isn't any affect on it, just him singing along with a small electronic beat. as solo (i know yorke is against the "solo" label but whatev, he's rich as a king) albums go, this is one of my favs. if you like radiohead at all, that means you've probably already listened to this album. otherwise, scoop this shit up yo! it's paul scholes-esque. :D
im listening to the cure disintegration right now, btw. just for those of you keeping score at home.

I love Muse's new album. Nothing sounds like Super Massive Blackhole which is a good thing. Does anyoen around here like Coldplay? I'm a bit afraid to ask that question.

<----listening to the Transformers Theme song.
Coldplay is ok, It's sappy music that I can listen to when I feel sentimental and even at that I can only listen to one or two songs.

I like Coldplay. It can be sentimental but there actually good if you can get by all of there songs are depressing and sound alike.

Alright Coldplay is my favorite band and I can understand how some people don't like them. Parachutes is quite a depressing album, but in my personal opinion it's one of my favorite albums of all time. And I can understand how Pryme says that their songs sound the same, but if you listen to A Rush of Blood to the Head their songs do not sound similar at all. X&Y some of them do, but for what it's worth it's their 3rd best album. I saw them live last year and it blew me away. I couldn't believe the stage presence that Chris Martin has. And another thing I love about them is their support in Make Trade Fair.

Nothing wrong with liking them, and their songs don't all sound the same. But they're nothing special. I'm as much into music as I am into film and I listen to a variety of music from all decades so I'm saying this in retrospect. Not one of my top hundred favorite bands but for today's music scene, they're good to have around.

Heading to Lollapalooza this weekend. Had a blast last year, and expect much of the same this time around. Hopefully the weather cooperates. But its Chicago... it never does.

Well, Lollapalooza isn't a touring festival anymore, its just three days in Chicago. I know there's been talk about moving it around in the future, but the venue works so well that its tough to justify.
I think we're slowly moving towards the European-style fixed festivals now. Pretty much every city in North America is doing them.

Yup. Every year for the past 3 Olympic Island has hosted Broken Social Scene and Co. While it's not a festival more and more bands get added on like this year. And V fest should be a regular from now on. The bands are awesome. Muse, Wolfmother, Sam Roberts, Phoenix, The Raconteurs, Flaming Lips, etc.

Cool. Several of those bands will be at Lolla this year actually.
Speaking of Sam Roberts, my brother is a huge fan of his. Is he pretty big in Canada (I thought he was from there)?

Yup he is. He's from Montreal. I just bought his latest CD "Chemical City" and it is damn good. He's a great singer, and his lyrics are good too. But then again it may just be me being partial to Canadian bands, just look at my avatar.
