What an absolute load of crap!! If he thinks he's going to earn a spot on the National Team for the WC by playing for Portsmouth, he's sadly mistaken. I'd be surprized if Pekerman even knew where Portsmouth is. The EPL doesn't suit his game and I'd be very shocked if he adapted to that style.

Other than possible financial issues, a move to River was clearly in D'Alessandro's best interests, I imagine, personal and professional. Oh well.

What up Leo!!!! Good to see you back on the board and running smack against the bosteros.:D Yeah, this really does suck, but he was probably given an offer he couldn't refuse. Can you really blame him though? It was probably an offer none of us could refuse since the new owner of Portsmouth has money falling out of his asshole.

Well, while I understand the disappointment of River fans, I don't think it's such a bad move. EPL is imho a more prestigious league than Bundesliga, and if he does well there, he is going to come more in the light, and maybe get his place for 2010. Add to that a very comfortable salary...

It's actually a loan move that is being proposed, no doubt a hefty weekly wage packet will also have played a part. Not sure the Premiership will suit his style of play, only time will tell.

D'alessandro has yet to play well for Argentina, the times he has played for our national team he has sucked bad.
I hope someone better than D'alessandro will replace Riquelme/Aimar for 2010.

Yeah I think Portsmouth is a good spot for him ... average team for an average player... after all he was the last great big thing from River:p . Seriuosly though, never thought to keenly of him and the national squad really does not need him,,,, River though could benefit from another average player since they are below that themselves:D .

I'd say your performance over the weekend against Gimnasia was well below average.

Drifting away from the Boca-River talk, I think it was a splendid move. I mean yes, I have seen quite a few negative comments about Andres in the posts above, obviously u lot have seen much more of him than I have, but the only two occasions i saw him was in the Copa America and the Olympics, and he was electrifying as far as I am concerned.
Yeh, he didnt particularly shine in Wolfsburg, but i am led to beleive most of it is due to problems with management etc. Harry Redknapp is a fan of him, even took him on trial at West Ham before he moved to Wolfsburg, but couldnt strike a deal with River at the time. With a new look Portsmouth, I think Harry will give him an ideal opportunity to grow as a player, and to be playing in the Premiership day in day out cant be bad, and I hope he stays on after the summer, so that we are again spoilt for choice come 2010.
