This just popped up on Soccernet.com. I know that it would border on sacrilege, but if Barton were serious one has to think that a certain team that wears red would be very interested. Actually two teams that wear red come to think of it.

I hope for all your sakes that Barton sees sense and resigns at a club that has given him every opportunity to succeed and has quite honestly helped pull him through some situations that could have led to Barton's self-destruction had they gone differently.

Even if this is only a bargaining position, it is a pretty cruel measure for Barton to take given the loyalty of Citeh and its fans.

Barton has only had his new agent for a month and how do agents get paid? Through transfers! Seems a bit suspicious to be honest, but to be honest I wouldn't mind him going to Liverpool. He wants to play Champions League football and Liverpool do so. I hope that he does sign his new contract, but I listened to TalkSport (UK radio channel) and Barton's manager said that Barton will not be signing a new contract with Man City, even if the team offers him his asking-wages.

If Barton leaves, he will get a bad reception for whatever team he is playing for and will be seen as a traitor to some people. I'm disappointed with his transfer request but if he wants to go, then sell him off, get £5m and bring in a replacement.

It was not Liverpool that I was implying would be interested in Barton. I was thinking that Manchester United or Arsenal were the teams that would be good fits. Liverpool is pretty well set-up with central midfielders right now. The other two teams are bereft of dynamic box-to-box type midfielders. I cannot imagine Barton going over to ManU, but stranger things have happened. Arsenal would not be such a contraversial move, and they could really use a player with Barton's qualities.

Your team would be getting ripped off if they only got £5m for him though. Not after all that you have been through for him. And not considering what guys like Andy Reid or Jermaine Jenas or the like have cost in transfers pretty recently.

I know, but out of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal, Liverpool are my favourite team and if Barton was to leave to one of those four teams, I would want it to be Liverpool.

I don't completely blame him, his agent has got to have something to do with the transfer request.
