Hi guy's,

I have been told this morning that Michael Brown will sign for Fulham today if he passes a medical. I have no idea what the fee is, but I am sure we'll make a profit on the £500,000 we bought him from Sheffield United for.

Any thoughts on his move?

I for one am slightly angry. I thought he was a great squad player, and am sad to see him leave. :(

Something to add:

I have just been told that Brown will sign for Fulham only if Hossam Ghaly passes his medical and signs for us in a £1.75 million deal today.

Hossam Ghaly is a midfielder who plays for Dutch side Feyenoord. He's also Egyptian.

I have never seen him play, so I am not sure as to what type of midfielder he is.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

Skysports.com call him a "talented schemer", whatever that means.

I heard that the Brown fee was £2m.

Came across this too: http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=357811&CPID=21&clid=&lid=8&title=Milan+close+on+Serbian+star

Goran Gavrancic. Italian media linking us, Arsenal and Liverpool with him - as well as Milan.

Funnily enough i know a bit about this guy, but only from football manager. When i was Hearts manager, my chairman wasn't happy with me not making any big signings - even though i was top and unbeaten - so he decided to sign some players for me, ones i didn't want. One was this guy.

A defensive midfielder, and he had a potential of 175/200. So he was rated quite highly.

I have heard from a Feynoord supporting friend of mine that Hossam Ghaly is mainly a defender. He also said he is a versatile player and can play anywhere in midfield. Sounds like a excellent player who could do a job wherever we play him.

Sounds like a ready-made replacement for Brown... Let's hope this comes through.

Wayne Routledge has joined Pompski until the end of the season on loan.

He played twice against them this season and got injured on both occasions. How ironic is that!

...All our midfielders are versatile! We have the following that can play anywhere in midfield:

Jenas
Carrick
Tainio
Davids

We need players that are great alround, but that make one position their own.

Danny Murphy too, rumoured anyway.

Don't see the point myself.

He didn't want to join us and joined Charlton. So I don't want him at the club.

I agree completely. Unless Brown wasn't happy, and all indications seemed to point to him being happy--including his own statements, I just don't see why you'd want to get rid of a decent, versatile, passionate squad player, and an English one to boot.

I dunno about this Egyptian schemer, so I won't say, but I will be surprised if he's content sitting the bench. Long term I doubt our bench will be able to replace Brown with someone else who will be as good and still be happy on the bench. This move seems a bit puzzling to me, especially at the bitter end of the transfer window.

On another note, we now unequivacably know that whenever Jol gives someone his vote of confidence that they will not be traded, this is merely an affectionate wave goodbye at the airport.

As long as the club sign someone for the left side, or an attacking midfielder, then this is ok.

Huddlestone is back, Carrick, Davids, Tainio and Jenas are all central midfielders. Brown is one player too many.

He was a good squad player, but it was inevitable he would be sold on when a decent offer came in.

Er he's been back a while now Colm.

Ghaly is a DM and has a lot of talent but is effing frustrating. Makes a lot of mistakes - a lot.

He's also injured, so that's nice and will be for the next 6 weeks.

Brown was cack and that was why he was happy with being a squad player.

Not a damn thing. We have gutted our squad and brought in nobody but a 16 year old Czech kid (and I'm not even certain that has been completed). Now we go into the most crucial part of the season with nagging injuries to King and Davids as well as Mido coming back with an injury with little cover. We used to be a deep squad. Now we are just an injury away from ending up in the same position as we did last year. Levy doesn't give a crap about winning. Douche Bag!
