Anyone like to watch or play golf?

I'm currently watching the Buick Open....Tiger is one back with couple of no-names leading.

Used to play pre-shoulder injury. There is a course right next to my house that I was a member of, but I only use the bar now. I really should get back into it. In terms of watching, I go to the events that I can in the UK and watch the bigger ones on TV. :o

I play probably 10-15 times a year. Unfornately it costs too much to play at the courses in my area.

I've been to one event...last year I went to the US Open in Pinehurst. It was awesome to see the pros play. We followed Tiger for several holes and saw Phil, Colin Montgomerie, Ernie, etc etc. Pretty much saw all the big names.

I play occasionally, have trouble finding time where I can get guys together to play.

When I say "play" most of the time I mean for about 7 holes before the sun and the beer mix and it is over.

I played in my early teen years and enjoyed it quite a bit, but it was too expensive of a habit to have. I still try to catch all of the majors and other various tournaments throughout the years on TV.

Anyone here have a favorite major? Mine has always been the British Open, especially when the weather is really bad and all of the players suck. :D

I think this would have to be my least favorite. The course is wayyyyy toooo easy IMO. They've set the thing up to be a driving range for Tiger, with very little skill involved.

Not to offend your tastes or anything. ;) :D

But the Masters just seems magical, that's why it's my favorite. I mean, Tiger wouldn't have sank that now-famous chip at any other course in any other competition in my opinion. There's just something about the Masters that makes players better and more spectacular.

You hit the nail on the head. The Masters just has that magic for me that none of the others have. One on my most memorable sports moments was seeing Tiger hug his dad after he won his first one.

Also, there is nothing easy about Augusta National. Plus it is such a beautiful course. I was lucky enough to go to a practice round when I was in 7th grade...I've been to some pretty nice courses in my day but none have compared to Augusta.

Maybe for you and me AN isn't easy, but there is a reason that course gets ripped apart every year and the winning scores are lower than at the other majors: the course is just easier than the other ones at the other majors. The US Open is insanely difficult every year, the British Open is always very tough, especially if the weather is bad, and even the PGA is tougher than the Masters. The course is all about the long ball. Hit it far and win.

I won't disagree with the part about the magic though.

The Masters starts today. Who do you think will win it this year? I think Phil has a great chance...

Yeah, he's my favorite as well...he'll either play really well in honor of his dad or really poorly because of his dad.

The difficulty in AUgusta comes in its greens. They're so damn hilly...It's fun though sometimes just watching the ball go up and down and up and down :D

I'm rooting for Tiger. I'd rather witness greatness than mediocrity.
