He hasn't yet, he is guaranteed to pass Federer sometime in the next 2-3 weeks.

That would have been if he had won @ Cinci.

I did not know that. Thank you.

it will be definitive on the 18th when Federer loses the 500 points from Cincinnati 2007 as Nadal only loses 5 points
And a title in Peking only gives 400 points, so even if Federer wins at Peking, Nadal passes him anyway

Watched Murray get beat by that kid from Taiwan in Trafalgar Square - the people there were shocked, but that other guy was quite impressive. Some incredible shots.
Didn't realize Nadal was so close to taking over.

So Nadal was upset at the French Open yesterday. That leaves Roger with a good chance to finally win it.
Also, did anyone see this play?
YouTube - unbelievable tennis point french open 2009 Gael Monfils - Jürgen Melzer

Monfils also ran over Roddick today.

Fed "should" win this tournament now, but Monfils is my dark horse (no pun intended).

Yeah, saw the play. Absolutely fantastic. The kid has got some wheels on him though. The most impressive thing for me was his recovery time. To be able to launch yourself after having worked so hard on the previous shot and then pick yourself up and get to the net so quickly is astounding.

Both he and the other French lad are supreme athletes.
Soderling's shot-making in the last 2 games has been ridiculous; I do expect them to dry out either against Gonzo or Federer.
It is Federer's GS to lose even though he has hardly been in inspired form. Monfils is the only one standing in his way. Del Potro is a choker. Sod will run out of steam.

Monfils rolled over.
Fed should win this one.

Great match today from Serena Williams. Safina vs. Venus just got started.
Also some great men's semifinal matches tomorrow..... Murray vs. Roddick and Federer vs. Haas.

Federer has cruised to the semifinals so far. If he actually wins it in second gear, one has to assume that Federer is going to win more than 20 GSs because Nadal will never be fit all the time and outside of him, no-one else can.

That Venus-Safina match was probably the most embarrassing semifinal I have ever seen. Can't remember one worse. It reminded me a little of the Royal Tennenbaums, when the guy just goes to pieces on the court.

This Roddick-Murray semifinal doesn't appear to be live on TV here, right? I'm watching on a stream at the moment.

I thought it would be shown live, but apparently they are already in the 3rd set.

Guess NBC can't be bothered to cut away from five hours of the Today Show.
