"Robbie can give Liverpool an extra 10 points a season - the difference between finishing above or below United. Maybe even catching Chelsea."

God I love deluded scousers. This beats even the "Crouchino" remarks made earlier.

If anyone's got a chance to beat you, it's them. Of course, I don't think they'll do it... but Robbie Fowler does have something to prove and I think he'll make an impact for them.

Robbie Fowler has been in the wilderness for years what with his coke problem and all. he's still a decent striker, already better than any of the other strikers they have...but why didnt they just get Owen (their fave striker without the coke problem?)

Of all the team behind us - which is all of them :D:D - you're right, they do seem to have the best chance.
Of course, it's all down to them trying to copy our style, and whilst they're not bad at it, they do lack that ability to knock in more than the odd goal.

I've always admired Ian Rush, how could you not, he was a world class goal scorer, I was lucky enough to see him in his prime too.
However, like many ex players, he seems to have taken one too many knocks to the head.
First of all, I don't think Fowler alone will bring 'another' 10 points to their team and second of all, I don't think he'll be fit for the rest of this season, he'l lget crocked somewhere along the line.

I don't doubt they'll finish above United - but I honestly have to laugh if he sincerely believes that Robbie Fowler will be the difference in that team catching Chelsea.

Oh I agree that 10 points is a huge stretch. However, he left on a sour note and he truly loves this club. He's always been a Red and I think he's going to want to make good on his exit. If he can stay fit, I do think he'll make something of it. But yeah, he and Crouchie just don't have what it takes to get it done.

With Crouch's ability to hold up the ball and with a (seemingly) return to form for Harry Kewell, expect to see Liverpool playing a style more suited to Robbie's, ie picking up scraps and scoring from way inside the box. I'm not saying he's as good as he's ever been, but he'll have more of a chance to shine than he did with Houllier's team. That said, there is a reason it's only a six month deal and not a new big contract.

And saying he's worth ten points isn't that crazy. I mean, it's not outlandish to think a Robbie Fowler goal could be the difference in three matches or more.

He's 34 and bloated. C'mon - for a real title contender acquiring Robbie Fowler ain't the thing that's going to make the difference.

He's thirty and still totally capable of being a dominant super sub, the role I'm pretty sure Benitez has in mind for him.

No one's saying he's gonna score like he did back in the day. But right now he can make a difference. I do agree, though, that the Rushie comment about him possibly meaning that we can catch up with Chelsea is a bit over the top.

He's 30 and continually crocked for one reason or another, there is nothing to say he will play the remainder of the season injury free.

He's as capable as being a dud as he is a competent player to come off the bench in the last quater of a game. He's long past the stage of being a competent "Super Sub".

You're not scoring a lot of goals - he isn't the answer.

Anybody that thinks he is, hasn't kept up with the game as it passed him by.

Absolutely, and again I point to the nature of the contract offered as support that everyone at Anfield knows what could happen.

Which begs the question...why bother then?

Strange isn't it, if it were another 30 something....like...oh, say..Hasselbaink...I would actually agree with the 10 point theory.

Still be laughable about catching Chelsea though.

Because Rafa believes in him and it didn't cost much money at all. He's on for 20K a week and no transfer fee. If this pays off, it'll be the deal of the season.

Ack, sorry, that was a typo, I meant 30, not 34. Not paying enough attention to what I post.
I completely disagree in that he can make a difference. He'll be pointless most of his time on the pitch as he no longer has the pace or work rate to do anything other than poach. He'll literally stand there.

I think the opinion that Fowler might mean 10pts to Liverpool and help them catch Chelsea makes as much sense as the opinion that Chelsea wont lose any more games at home.

Fowler isn't great, but he's a damn sight better than Cisse when it comes to finishing so we'll see if he's able to help provide a spark.

whether or not he can make a difference, time will tell. I'm only looking forward to this Sunday for now.
