Tried it, didn't like it as much. Dunno, maybe it was too big, it just tasted extremely citrusy, not like a whit is supposed too.

Really? Hmm, I usually don't put it in when I'm at home but at the bar they toss one in the glass and it's good. To each his own though.

Oh.. glass. Yeah I was told to do it in the bottle.

Well I doubt it makes a difference, I just don't bother with the bottle since I usually don't have fresh fruit at my house.

I didn't notice the Aquarium Drinker thing under your name till after I posted. I kinda felt like an idiot. I'm assuming that's Tweedy in your avatar?

Yesiree bob. And I am trying to break your heart is an amazing documentary (yes, I'm biased and I own it). Starts off just being a look at an under-rated band making a record but turns into a story of band dynamics (with the firing of Jay Bennett) and record company politics....not to mention a cameo by a relatively unknown at that time comedian by the name of Fred Armeson.

Yesiree bob.

He looks a bit different these days with the hobo look and all that he sported at Lolla this year. ;)

Just saw Tokyo Drift. It sucked major culo!

Please don't tell me you were even slightly surprised by this! One of my greatest talents is determining how bad/good a movie will be just by the previews and plot outline. When I saw the preview for that movie, I knew it would be just about as good as the next preview I saw.... Little Man....

'nuff said ;)

Littleman got a 2.1 on IMDB. Granted it looks like it could be funny in a "Don't a Menace" kind of way.

Yes the part with Tweedy and Armeson where they were talking about the Hamptons was quite funny. I was going to say something about the film but I don't really want to give any more of it away, other than you should see it if you haven't. Really an excellent film, I saw Wilco in concert for the first time this summer, and boy was it fantastic. Two hours of songs, two encores, the crowd (the concert was in my hometown) was fantastic, everyone seemed to know the words to the songs, and they got quite an ovation even when they finished playing. A fantastic night.

I haven't missed them any time they've played within 150 mile radius over the last several years.....save last March when they played in Athens and I was in London seeing the Gunners (all you smartasses save your comments about which was more worthwhile.....:p ).

They never disappoint.....at least not at any show I've attended.

Good question. I think the movie will be stupid, and normally I don't throw my money away like that but to support him, I might do it. Artie has been promoting the hell out of the film for the past four months. (Including the flier incident with Jeff the Drunk - outrageous) I hope this movie does well.

Just saw Dead Man's Shoes (http://imdb.com/title/tt0419677/). Quality movie, and it really approaches things differently without sacrificing quality (indeed, it is much to the film's benefit). Paddy Considine (great actor, also in Cinderella Man, In America & 24 Hour Party People) is fantastic in it, and also apparently played a major role in writing the script.

Spoilers alert below:

If anybody else has seen the movie, was it blatantly obvious to you that the brother was dead from very, very close to the start? It seemed to me that it was the intention of director Shane Meadows to make this noticeable in order to givee a more spiritual/psychological resonance to the tone, rather than another tired rehash of a Sixth Sense-esque climactic twist.

SirManc, if you haven't seen this I would advise you to give it a look. TBH, I am a bit frustrated that a mate (who I have since come to realise has a terrible taste in movies) talked me out of seeing this when it screened on TV 18+ months ago.

So what is this movie about anyway?

And on another note, one of my film classes this semester will center around Apocalypse Now and other related Vietnam War movies. I couldn't have picked a better class. I am absolutely fascinated by this period in American history and movies like the aforementioned, The Deer Hunter, Platoon, and Full Metal Jacket are among the ones that originally got me into cinema.

Also, I'm taking Film Production at last, we're in pre-production for a short, I'm DP'ing, and it's been very frustrating. No time for anything else. I'm supposed to finish this 250 page book by Friday and we'll have an exam on it, I just started reading it the other day. Ontop of that, I have to help out the director of the project with floor planning, and the entire pre-production report, including getting permits, renting out equipment and all. Oh yes I'm very busy.

So what is this movie about anyway?Don't really want to give away too much, but it is basically about a man in the English countryside getting revenge on some small-time criminals in some very nasty ways. I had another one of my sleepless nights last night, so my brain is a little too melted to give a good analysis. Here (http://www.movie-gazette.com/cinereviews/1252) is a pretty useful review that doesn't give too much away, mind.

I also saw V for Vendetta last night/this morning for the first time. Ugh... irritating and pretty useless. I have never read any of Alan Moore's stuff, but I have picked up a little bit of the original story and the context it was set in through yourself, and I can almost see how it was raped without ever seeing the original material. Everything seemed to be *flown by too quickly, the setting is so horribly forced, the ending completely contrived, and the 'V' character was especially actually painful to watch imo. I am not sure if that is how the original character had been written, but it just seemed to me as if an originally dark, brooding monstrosity with an 'end over means' mentality (that would quite nicely and fittingly juxtapose the government) had been given a happy-Hollywood/Jack Sparrow-wanna makeover. I like the taste of hard spirits/liquor, and I also like the taste of apple pie, but I'm certainly never going to mix the two, if you know what I'm getting at. I didn't have much expectations, but even they were not met.

*It is also getting increasingly frustrating to watch more and more movies become about what happens rather than how it happens... and indeed, the layman's (positive) reaction towards this movement. It is ruining so many potentially great movies because mood and tone (and thus styles, motif and imagery) are being grinded out by the need to move on to the next thing. A sterling example of this would be when Evey is imprisoned for what... 15 minutes? Her 'torture' (as she herself describes it) is limited to showing that not even the rats will eat her food (on which only a single, typically 3-4 second shot is used), rapidly jump-cutting through the days, and seeign her being showered in handcuffs for about... you guessed it... a single 3-4 second shot. It's just a shame for me that this was not made into (roughly) an 8-part mini-series, each an hour in length, as then we would not just be getting told 'this happened, then this, then this, followeed by this, and then this' and would actually be given a chance to empathise with the characters as people and thus feel their plight and recognise the underlying themes of ideology/freedom of speech/etc far, far better. Then again, that wouldn't make nearly as much money or profit (even with a far lower budget, which I would not only put up with, but probably appreciate more).

The same goes for Sin City, only to a much further extent. Imagine if, for argument's sake, HBO picked up Sin City as a series and gave it the freedom that they gave 'Oz'. ******** the big name stars and such, just do some good casting, which would also be beneficial towards the characters as they are/were, for the most part, entirely original to the general audience; having to look past the superstar celebrities and into the characters minds is a bad mix for something like Sin City (esp.) or V for Vendetta, imo.

With regard to your other - rather weighty - workload... at least after pre-production, it gets a little bit easier (if everything is planned out properly).
