I think I've got two/three mates heading over here in a few minutes. If they ever show up (thought they would be here half an hour ago) then I am coercing them into watching either The Descent or Clerks.

well that's a no-brainer. The Descent hands down, however your mates might just want something fun to watch, to take the piss so to speak. If any chicks ever come over, then pop out The Descent, that's gotta be a good movie to watch with a chick.

Is it wrong that a really sleazy chatup line involving how men are better at entering 'caves' than women just popped into my mind?

not at all.

Speaking of which, on the making of featurette on The Descent dvd, there is a hilarious bit where one of the pieces of the set (Cave entrance) looks stunningly familiar to a woman's body part. The cast and crew all joke about it. Good stuff.

Hey SirManc, what are some of the upcoming movies to be played in major theatres are you looking most forward to. I'm personally looking forward to Babel, The Prestige, Casino Royale (I'm partial to Bond flicks), The Science of Sleep, The Fountain, and Renaissance. There's a whole slew of other films coming out that I wanna watch but out of the bigger movies thos are the ones which stand out for me.

And if you haven't noticed my taste in movies is not like that of pryme's :p

Here's what I'm looking forward to the most, (nothing really outstanding that I'm too anxious about, that feeling has long elluded me)

The Prestige - I've watched everything Nolan did and he's one of my favorite new directors.

The Fountain - same as with Nolan, Aronofsky continuously surprises.

Children of Men - great story (although ripped off from the Y the Last man comic books) and directed by Alfonso Cuaron.

Casino Royale - I'm a huge Bond fan, plus Chris Cornell (one of my favorite musicians) is supposed to do the theme song.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Babel - Good premise, but like Crash I doubt it goes anywhere. Plus I'm not a fan of Inarritu.

The Science of Sleep - another pretentious indy film, that takes itself way too seriously and probably goes absolutely nowhere nor serves any purpose.

I vaguely remember that - haven't watched the extras to it in quite a bit though. One of them brought over Hitchhiker's Guide (the 2005 version) so I stuck with it out of politeness. I've seen Hitchhiker's before and quite liked it... it's not great, but the offbeatedness of it (as well as Rockwell, who was fantastic I thought) got me through. Certainly better than the usual battle of me & one or two others not standing for some shit liek White Chicks.

Now the real question... I got a nice little delivery in from Amazon today (I love you 3V Card! (http://www.3v.ie)). Mostly documentaries and don't know which one to go to bed with: The Yes Men, Why We Fight - War Comes to America, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Hoop Dreams, and Irreversable. Not really in the mood for Irreversable, so I guess that is going to add to the continuingly growing 'to watch' list on my desk (which also has Infernal Affairs II & III [I want to brush up on the original beforehand], C.R.A.Z.Y, Talk To Her (which, hilariously, one of my mates spotted and said he though was great :p) and Best of Youth (just can't find the time right now... 6.5hrs?!?!?). Anybody got any suggestions as from the doc's?

Go with The Yes Men; educational and wildly entertaining at the same time. I like Why We Fight a lot, but it's going to have to take a serious sit down for you to watch it. It's a bombardment of information.

I liked "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" a lot. It's a bit Fahrenheit: 9/11 style, though probably does a better job of sticking to the facts.

I saw "Hoop Dreams" a while ago, while I was in high school. Liked that one too.

I watched the documentary "The Corporation" last night. It was harrowing.

A Clockwork Orange? I know its always on top 5 best movie ever lists, but I wanna know what the average person thinks of it. I'm sure its a great movie and I'm gunna rent it regardless, but I just wanna know...is it actually one of the best films like every critic preaches?

I read the book. Have not seen the movie yet. Even though it was on HBO or Cinemax a month or so ago.
