Does anyone know where Blackburn is, i thought it was up by Manchester but i can't find it on the map. Now that Arsenal is out of the FA cup I may just go down to Spain early. If i do, it may be easiest to fly into and out of Manchester,

Thanks Mike, I may have to ask Judy if i can get a ride from her up to the Blackburn away match. I'm thinking i'll fly to Spain from Manchester on the 15th, and come back on the Friday before the Blackburn match.

That gives you a good map. It's only about 30 mins drive from Judy's to Blackburn. Remember she is flying out the Sunday as well, so you can always get on the same flight.........
Makes sense.

If you do come through Manchester you're welcome to stay, get a lift to the game, whatever.
And if I had a choice between hanging out in Spain or England in February I'd chose Espaņa every time.

Yeah, thanks Rick. I already have a ticket to fly from Heathrow to Madrid and back, but i might change it and try to check out some more of Spain and maybe Southern France. I'm trying to see what my options are, since the two away games are close to Manchester it might be worth it flying out of there. If i don't change my flight i'll probably just go up to Scotland or over to Ireland or something then down to London and Madrid. I've got to admit, i'm totally confused, usually Arsenal helps me plan my trips, now i'm on my own for a week. :(

That's what i'm thinking. Thanks for the offer, I might have to take you up on getting a ride to Blackburn.

Got any fun plans while you're in Madrid (besides the game, of course)?

I'm really bummed, i tried to change my ticket on Orbitz and its nonchangable and nonrefundable, so basically i'll have to eat it if i don't use it. Which sucks because i checked and i didn't even save any money by booking it early, i could have got it for the same price today. But it wasn't too expensive so it's probably worth it to make other plans. The ticket i've got had me in Madrid for 5 nights, so i wouldn't have time to see much else in Spain, maybe 1 night. I've never been so i'm looking into options that will let me go to Barcelona, and maybe somewhere else. RyanAir has a cheap one way from 'Pool to Girona (outside Barca) the day after the game at Anfield, so i might pick up that and an return from somewhere else.

I'd also recommend the south, I personally had a great time in Granada.
I lived in Madrid for quite a few months a few years ago so if you need any ideas for things to do, don't hesitate to ask! :D

Thanks Liz, right now i'm looking at a cheap flight that would fly into Barca and return from Seville. That would put me in Barcelona, Madrid, and Seville in 9 nights, and i could even see a game at the Nou Camp. I might go for that. How are the trains over there? Any idea how long the trip from Barca to Madrid? Madrid to Seville? I'm probably gonna go for it, i've never been to Spain and i've been all over Britain in the last few year soo...

Trains are good, it'd probably be about 4-5 hours on the train from Barcelona to Madrid, and probably about the same to Sevilla. When I went down to Andalucia we went on a bus, so I can't say for sure how long the train would take.

I checked the Eurail map and there seems to be some kind of special train that goes to Malaga and Sevilla, so if anything it should be quicker.
