I've 'acquired it' but only listened to one track so far.

I heard that the backing band is made up of the old stax house band? (or maybe it was another 60's soul label)

Either way quite intriguing.
I believe you are right on stax. you can feel the influence in the disc. it almost has a timeless quality to it.

note: this is my first cat power disc...never heard her music before.

Did a little research, it was Al Green's backing band. That's pretty sweet.

Moon Pix from '98 is probably her best album, and she's pretty cute as well. Though gettin' a lil' older.
