Thanks bud for the great banter.
OTOH it actually wasn't the USA's fault if this turns to war this time, that is an improvement.

no one said it was the US' fault, but what improvement are you talking about?
@NM, I was refering to religion in general and how it can turn even modern man into something frighteningly primitive.

People are stupid and die over football, that doesn't make football or football fans frighteningly primitive.

Actually, it does make people come off as primitive if they are willing to kill or die for a game, no matter how sacred it is. Same goes for religion. By the way, I think that's a questionable comparison you made there but that's beside the point.

It doesn't make them primitve at all... It makes them sheep... Anyone willing to follow without questioning is not primitive they are stupid...

For some, football IS religion.
However, the point is, people can be stupid about a great many things. Sure, religion can be misused by certain people to incite violence, killing, wars, etc. but that's not a valid reason to dismiss the positives that can come from religion as well... I'm not saying you are dismissing these reasons, but you did leave them out.

So? why did I have to bring them up? We're all aware of the positives, the topic was the recent events in the Middle East - and religion's negative aspects, there's no reason to bring up the positives, they aren't associated with the event there whatsoever.

I'll completely disagree.. The people you are referring to don't meet any standard definition of primitive..http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=primitive
The are just plain stupid.. or Dumb if that makes it more clear... Please don't confuse it with unsophisticated because even an unsophisticated person has the ability to think individually.....

You said religion can turn modern man into frightening primitives, as though it were an absolute. I was pointing out the positives and made it clear that I didn't accuse you of saying anything more than what you said...

I'm not confusing it with anything, their perspective on religion is primitive to me, it's stupid, but also primitive.

I'm just saying at least this time somethint that caused a 'ruckus' in the ME wasn't done by something American related (at least as far as we know) which normally is the case, wouldn't you agree?
The cartoons are pretty (marginally if you ask me but thats not a question) offensive, but they are no reason to threaten to kill people over. I assume that is the threats that the Jihadids are giving out. Anyone who threatens to kill someone over such a thing is not stupid... whats the word? Barbaric maybe. Multiplicitously overreactact.

Yea I agree with the former, it's the neo-re-emergance (if you will) of the Islamic Fundementalists,(exacerbated by US occupation mind you), but yea they're kinda ********ed up in the head for taking this so seriously. Nobody intended to offend them like this, many many cartoons like this were created before, many even more offensive. They're living in the past (primitive) acting without a center of authority, this is just the culmination point.

For some reason, methinks that people are just looking for a way to start off an international incident. Hey! Maybe not, but you never know in these times.
